Refuse ... once you become a mom you’re going to have to say no a lot more than you probably ever had to before. You might as well practice saying it now
And I mean saying no to work things not just to your kid (which you will also do haha)
Just refuse. I'd say no 3 back to back DDs even if I wasn't pregnant.
I would say no. Can you pull your staffer into this? My staffer became super protective of me when I was pregnant the first time (she was a new mom herself) and basically made it her “fault” when I was “unavailable” for a really tough case that wanted me. Not sure how senior you are- I was a Consultant at the time, which helped!
Refuse, you have to prioritise yourself and your baby now, the DD probably needs someone who can give it 150%, that’s not you so it’s in everyone’s best interest to not staff you there. An advice I got from a senior female leader was even to ask for an internal role for a bit in 3rd trimester. She was staffed on very intense projects and is really resentful. apparently the last weeks get tough (I’m still in 1st trimester)
Agreed, I'm in my last 4 weeks and the pregnancy is making me miserable in a lot of ways. Either work from home if you're staffed or try to find a non-client facing role. I'm about to wrap up a project and straight up told them I don't want to be staffed on another project before my due date.
24 weeks pregnant and heading down the same path. Worried about getting trapped.
Say no, the last few weeks are miserable. Everyday feels like 5, everything hurts, you’re heavy, baby settles in pelvis, sleeping is a chore. 60-70 hrs?! more power to ya
