Why is it that once you resign, the management is ready to hold you with a good hike and other benefits rather providing you a good appraisal to keep you motivated.
Recently saw an article stating that in China real estate seems to be booming. Has anyone here ever made the transition to an international market?
Waiting for that direct message notification. 🧎
Hey Friends! A bit of a personal question...
I'm in my early thirties and have a pretty steady freelancing career, but by no means am I making a "killing".in 🇨🇦
I'm at the point in my life where I'm seriously considering starting a family and although my partner has a steady salaried income, I have no idea what mat leave would look like for me and how/if it could screw us over.
Can anyone speak on their experience of freelancing mat leave, who I should talk to re: finances while I'd be off work,
How would you define a claim?
Hi! I’m interested in moving to San Diego in the next six months. Any tips for job searching from New England? I’m currently working in social media, internal communications and content creation at a real estate firm. Curious to know if anyone has done that type of move and how did you navigate the job search.

Is that true EY just laid of people that are on visa and called it “performance” related?

Do you guys read into relationships that have been in the dating phase too long? Like a couple that has been dating ten years but hasn’t gotten engaged/married? I’m part of that club and we both see and talk about a joint future but haven’t made anything official yet. Is there a such thing as dating too long? Do couples who commit quicker and get married more of “the real deal”? To be clear I consider my SO to be that for me but just wonder bc I’ve only had the benefit of seeing our relationship

If I’m applying for jobs right now, should I even expect to hear back on this side of the year?

Should I switch jobs? Currently working from home with 2 kids
I just got a verbal offer from a company I used to work for and it’s a level higher than I am currently. On average I should be looking at a $15k pay increase. However right now I have the flexibility of working from home and I’m not sure I’ll still have that at my new job, at least not in the beginning.
On top of that, I’m thinking about starting a side hustle so that I won’t have to attach my time to money. But I’m still dreaming

I have a meeting next week with a director of a company that I had reached out to, early September. They were not hiring at this time, I have since accepted another position that I will start in January. The director would now like to meet with me in person next week… I am assuming this is not an interview, and more of a network opportunity, however now.. I am unsure what to wear, and even how to prepare for this meeting?? Maybe I should treat it as an interview.
When did people stop using the term “global warming” and replace it with “climate change”? And if climate change is responsible for the issues in CA, are the trees in Canada or anywhere else climate change resistant?
How do you get over someone who’s just a friend and doesn’t have the same feelings? This hurts pretty bad since I’ve known him for 10 years and my feelings keep growing.
I am going into my third year at Chase in DE. The vacation policy is generous and we get 23 days to use (excluding sick days). I have never had a manager deny my PTO and next year I’m planning to use 5 in March, 5 in April, 8 in May and 5 over the summer. (Im 24 so holidays aren’t really an important time). Would you all think this would be detrimental to me and my career assuming I give my boss 8 months notice? I have not taken significant time off since starting in 2020.
Is it possible to have a tent wedding if there's trees in the way? I know ideally we wouldn't want to, but looking for ways around it...
Book recommendations? Going on a work trip, looking for a recommendation in the either business story or leadership/self development arenas. I listen to books on audible on the plane

I knew this guy in college who put his iphone in the oven at 350 for a half hour because he saw a reddit post that said it would boost his WiFi. I often wonder how he’s doing.
Any non-fiction book recommendations? I normally don’t like NF but recently read Bad Blood by John Carreyrou and loved the style/pace. Any similar recs?
Come on people!
Had 3 interviews. One phone screen, a teams call, and an in person interview. It has been about 2 weeks since my last interview. I reached out a couple days after the third interview and they said they had one or two more interviews and would get back to me. It has now been two weeks. Should I be worried? Should I reach out again?
Am I being unreasonable? I’m having trouble sometimes being productive and feeling down with everything that’s been going. My manager keeps asking why I haven’t gotten work done sooner and asks everything I’m working on..she doesn’t seem to understand and doesn’t have any empathy. I get things done but not as quickly before all this happened.
I’m considering joining a startup because it’s a great learning opportunity and it’s something I see myself enjoying. However, the hours are long. At my current job I work strictly 8 hours, and some days I can leave a bit early. At the startup, it’s going to be about 9 hours everyday. I’m not sure if I’m ready to make that switch. What would you do? Is it worth making the switch?
Any Special Ops personnel on here? I’d love to hear leadership advice from any Navy SEALS , Army Rangers, Delta Force, etc. I really admire our elite operators & think that there’s a lot they can teach that may apply to business settings.
