Firm has said layoffs would be a last resort. Reach out to see if there are any internal firm projects you can take on. Read about your specific field of work and do technical trainings. Prepare yourself with skills you may need.

KPMG, what's the worst that will happen?

Laid off

Start interviewing, just in case.

Make plans. Be proactive. You’ll feel a little more in control.

Great time to connect with people and build the roots of an internal network, look for ways to add value in the short term while you wait to get assigned. Help clean up a deck, do some Biz Dev research, or reskill/deepen your skillset

Why is it that once you resign, the management is ready to hold you with a good hike and other benefits rather providing you a good appraisal to keep you motivated.

Hey Friends! A bit of a personal question...
I'm in my early thirties and have a pretty steady freelancing career, but by no means am I making a "killing".in 🇨🇦
I'm at the point in my life where I'm seriously considering starting a family and although my partner has a steady salaried income, I have no idea what mat leave would look like for me and how/if it could screw us over.
Can anyone speak on their experience of freelancing mat leave, who I should talk to re: finances while I'd be off work,

Hi! I’m interested in moving to San Diego in the next six months. Any tips for job searching from New England? I’m currently working in social media, internal communications and content creation at a real estate firm. Curious to know if anyone has done that type of move and how did you navigate the job search.

Do you guys read into relationships that have been in the dating phase too long? Like a couple that has been dating ten years but hasn’t gotten engaged/married? I’m part of that club and we both see and talk about a joint future but haven’t made anything official yet. Is there a such thing as dating too long? Do couples who commit quicker and get married more of “the real deal”? To be clear I consider my SO to be that for me but just wonder bc I’ve only had the benefit of seeing our relationship

Should I switch jobs? Currently working from home with 2 kids

I just got a verbal offer from a company I used to work for and it’s a level higher than I am currently. On average I should be looking at a $15k pay increase. However right now I have the flexibility of working from home and I’m not sure I’ll still have that at my new job, at least not in the beginning.

On top of that, I’m thinking about starting a side hustle so that I won’t have to attach my time to money. But I’m still dreaming

I have a meeting next week with a director of a company that I had reached out to, early September. They were not hiring at this time, I have since accepted another position that I will start in January. The director would now like to meet with me in person next week… I am assuming this is not an interview, and more of a network opportunity, however now.. I am unsure what to wear, and even how to prepare for this meeting?? Maybe I should treat it as an interview.

Any tips??

I am going into my third year at Chase in DE. The vacation policy is generous and we get 23 days to use (excluding sick days). I have never had a manager deny my PTO and next year I’m planning to use 5 in March, 5 in April, 8 in May and 5 over the summer. (Im 24 so holidays aren’t really an important time). Would you all think this would be detrimental to me and my career assuming I give my boss 8 months notice? I have not taken significant time off since starting in 2020.

Had 3 interviews. One phone screen, a teams call, and an in person interview. It has been about 2 weeks since my last interview. I reached out a couple days after the third interview and they said they had one or two more interviews and would get back to me. It has now been two weeks. Should I be worried? Should I reach out again?

Am I being unreasonable? I’m having trouble sometimes being productive and feeling down with everything that’s been going. My manager keeps asking why I haven’t gotten work done sooner and asks everything I’m working on..she doesn’t seem to understand and doesn’t have any empathy. I get things done but not as quickly before all this happened.

I’m considering joining a startup because it’s a great learning opportunity and it’s something I see myself enjoying. However, the hours are long. At my current job I work strictly 8 hours, and some days I can leave a bit early. At the startup, it’s going to be about 9 hours everyday. I’m not sure if I’m ready to make that switch. What would you do? Is it worth making the switch?
