I interviewed with Firm A months ago and accepted a position to start this upcoming fall. Group leader called me to offer the position back in November 2020. Besides interviewing with partners at the firms, and diligent follow ups notifying them of my interest to get started, no communication has transpired since. It turns out that I accepted a better offer w/ Firm B for personal reasons and won’t be going to Firm A. What is the best way to notify Firm A? Call/email group leader? Call/email HR?
Any PgM level 4 or 5 here?

You understand that in no world did “Democrats say we need to let everyone in” during Trump right? You know you’re lying, right?
Even setting that aside, your position is that the Biden admin won’t accept refugees - who can’t vote, remember - because they think communism is bad or something?
D2- find me Biden saying "we need to let everyone in". He's the one in charge. The only "contender" who said anything remotely along the lines of an open border was Bero O'Rourke, who is an idiot that likes to say contrarian things.

“Mayorkas' warning did not mark a shift in U.S. policy. For decades, the U.S. government has been turning back the vast majority of migrants encountered at sea.”
Come on McK, you have to be smarter than that. This is a nothing burger that comes with a side of clickbait.

Biden raised the refugee cap 4x the Trump level this year and 8x next year. But go on, keep lying

The issue is that migration by sea is incredibly dangerous - the stats aren’t in this article but from what I recall more die than reach our shores. So dissuading people from using that route is saving lives, and any time people seem tempted to try it, it makes sense to remind people of that policy.

“We have to let everyone in at the border”
What are you talking about?

OP is being deliberately obtuse
A freudian slip if I’ve ever seen one. Let me guess, you’ve spent years railing against immigration. The second they’re coming from a group that aligns with you politically, you want to let them in. Classic American politics.
Honestly McK1 I hadn’t fully woken up at all, and mixed you up with OP (even with the inverted position - must have also missed a negative). Thought he was using that line as a response to me and got a little feisty. No worries

I am generally in agreemwnt with OP, we need to do a better job at taking in refugees. The question is how do we do it in a way that doesn encourage people to take wild risks through the ocean or unsafe routes
We do that by providing more legal avenues to immigrate (read, less numerical limits and quicker processing)
Did you conveniently ignore this part?
“Mayorkas' warning did not mark a shift in U.S. policy. For decades, the U.S. government has been turning back the vast majority of migrants encountered at sea.”
There’s a differentiation of “on US soil” vs “picked up at sea”. If they’re in the US via land the rules are different it sounds like. The coast guard can more effectively catch people than the border patrol.
I was waiting for the "Wet foot, dry foot" Cuba policy to come up but you used boring language.
The reason for this is because there’s no physical border patrol on the east coast to keep tabs of those illegal immigrants coming to our shores. Are we gonna have border patrol and ICE all along the east Coast? Maybe set up asylum courts and detention centers at all our beaches? Doesn’t even make sense. Many Cubans come into our border via Mexico as it is. Hatians too.
