I’m new to the job hunting scene in the US.

When you’re a junior/mid level designer, are recruiters supposed to be thought of as gods/lifelines?

Are you supposed to feel lucky when they reach out to you and are you supposed to kiss their ass as much as possible or are you supposed to think of them as your friends and be honest about your views on things like salary and such?

Will I be equally fine not relying on getting a job through a recruiter at my stage??

PSA to all associates: having been around the block, I hate to see the notion being sold that recruiters have information about positions that are not listed. When it comes to lateral associate recruiting between big law firms, the vast majority of firms post all their positions online. It makes simple economic sense because then they get more associates applying. The whole notion that recruiters even have deep connections to law firms is also usually garbage for associate recruiting. Continued.

I was wondering what kind of contractual or other barriers I might face if I apply for one of the big 4 while working on a project with them in my current company.
I am not too involved in the project but I was in a few meetings and went on a field trip with them as well.
The position that I am applying for is in a different team and city.
Will this considered “poaching” if the consulting firm hires me? Would they need to talk to my current employer?

Those looking for content, strongly recommend Rebels and Clone Wars series if you haven’t seen them already… I just got into Rebels and it’s excellent. Perhaps cartoon format gives some perception about it, but the story line is amazing!!! Disney has more screen time to explain things… for example I didn’t know a light saber has a knob to change the length, or all the details about inquisitors (which we see a little off in the Kenobi trailer)

lots of layoffs and hiring freezes but databricks seem to be still hiring. i’ve read on glassdoor that for this position lots of people got ghosted after the tech interview. i have an interview soon but worried that jumping ship now would be risky
