Unconscious bias is prejudices we may have, of which we are unaware. Whoever we can still try to do better by recognizing it.
A few tips to help!

- Accept that we all have unconscious biases
- Make considered decisions
- Avoid making assumptions or relying on gut instinct
- Set ground rules for behaviour
- Apologise if you get it wrong
- Speak out if you notice bias

I’m in HR and you’re giving HR a bad name. This is pedantic.

You sound exactly like the HR that already has a bad name. At least OP is trying to do their job.

Thanks so much for sharing this. It's interesting - even in moments when I'm convinced I'm unbiased, a new scenario will come up where I realize that I'm making assumptions & judgments. Even when we are trying not to, we really do still have unconscious biases. It's a lifelong process learning to see & treat people equitably.

💯We all have them including myself, I also try to coach leaders to not make assumptions and ask questions to their employees. Those unconscious bias are everywhere and can create misunderstandings ☺️at the end of the day we want to be fair and equitable to everyone!

I’ve tried for an hour to get a recorded macro of pivot table reformatting to work (so I don’t have to keep doing all the steps to customize them.). What am I doing wrong? It stops on the second step where it seems to refer to the original pivot table name or active sheet. I even tried using that “universal reference “ button. Help.

Hi! Anyone taken SHRM-CP exam recently and have any tips on studying or taking the exam? TIA.

Are recruiters worth more than L&D specialists? We have a new recuiter that transferred in from another dept. & is already making more than me and has a higher comp range. We have same tenure & they have NO prev. recuiting experience. I should also add I have been helping cover recuiting in interim. I also help cover HR tasks, have my SHRM, 5 years of HR exp., and 2 degrees. Is the "value" for recruiters more than L&D? I feel a little taken advantage of, but want to know if I'm off base here.

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Hi everyone! I’m in the market for a fully remote or hybrid HR coordinator/Specialist or People Operations Coordinator position, ideally with a big company. I’m currently in grad school obtaining my Masters in HRM, planning to take the SHRM within a year.

Hi everyone! Just looking for some insight. I’m about 4 years into HR, have my bachelors. I’ve been toying around with the idea of getting my masters in something relating to compliance/labor law and that side of HR. Shrm certification is also on my list. If anyone has some advice on what to get a masters in specifically, I’d be open to suggestions! I’m trying to find something that would be worth my while and would give me a step up. Thanks!

I’m currently working with a senior level HR candidate. This individual has a doctorate in business with a focus in HR, her SPHR, Federal, and private sector experience at the singer level, and has a fabulous personality. I’m curious is anyone else having difficulties play some candidates like this? At this point I’m starting to think it’s racial or her sex based of the lack of interest in this candidate. Any thoughts?
