United always. American can get f*cked. I have never experienced such terrible policies, customer service, and issues with flying than I have with American
United because it is better for my destinations when traveling out of ORD. If you have no status and are deciding for a one-off flight, AA vs UA doesn't matter, so pick the cheapest or most convenient.
I’m an ORD frequent flyer and I prefer AA for two simple reasons.. 1. Free liquor in Econ+ (at least pre COVID) 2. Live TV streaming from personal entertainment device (great great great for sports)
AA - much better miles especially after United gutted MileagePlus. In terms of actual services / capabilities they’re both the same in actual statistics in cancellations and delays and neither has a premium product so there’s a marginal difference if anything between the 2.
United. Easier to earn status, making it easier to earn miles and travel for free faster. Also when you have status there are some great miles redemptions
Lots of domestic flights I get for myself or friends/family like 10-15k miles round trip on “super saver” redemptions. I have heard American has some very good international redemptions, just not quite as useful for me
Tbh I’ve had status on both UA and AA. They’re very comparable. I’d just be realistic about where you’ll be flying to the most and see how many and how frequent are flights to and from your destination. For example if you want to go to DCA, AA is a no brainer. Going to Houston? UA. Look at the flight route frequency per airport.
I have been 1K on United for many years as well as Exec Platinum on AA. So with all that experience flying both out of ORD I don’t find one better than the other - both offer indifferent, inconsistent service striving for the lowest level of mediocrity that they can find. That said UA has the slight advantage for me because they have quite a few more international destinations from ORD than AA.
Subletting my studio at CityFrontchicago.com starting the week before Thanksgiving through April. Great building, amenities, stunning views. Please DM me if you know anyone who’d be interested, can be flexible w dates.

United for ORD. I also prefer star alliance over one world.

United is the best in Chicago hands down.

I’m an American fan here. I haven’t had any significant problems with them and their airplanes have usb charges which is dope
American cuz I have a credit card that gets me mad miles.
