And also no boarding groups. They’re promoting fist fights for early boarding
They should just partition the overheads to the size of a carry on bag and assign seats to each carry on partition already. Take all the anxiety out of boarding for everyone.
They’re only testing it I think. I hope they don’t, Delta’s boarding is awful. People make fun of AA’s 800 groups, but the more groups the better (if executed properly)
Yeah. I prefer southwest over united if the direct flights are right. Southwest essentially has a boarding group for each person.
That's how I feel about united. Southwest you only need to be there half an hour before departure when boarding starts. Your boarding pass by definition says when you board. getting there early should have no bearing on your seat. Now checking in online early....thats a different story. But if you're a list or get a business select ticket you're already in good shape.
Why would they do that? Boarding groups are the best.
It’s somewhat like that at some airports already
OP I hate SWs seating for solo traveling though. I like to minimize time in the airport and they force you to be there early or get stuck with a shitty seat
They are just getting rid of the 3-5 ones I think. Some airports/gates have a combo 3-5 lane which was a mess. Now they will allow only 3, then only 4, then only 5. What they need are the Southwest screens which change dynamically during different boarding phase directly above where people are supposed to stand. It’s far more effective to herd the cats that way than flimsy signs in tiny gate areas often pointed the wrong direction anyway.
I’ve had one of these changes in ohare. It was a mess. Group 2 crowded before group 1 even got to board. You just had to push your way through
I’ve not heard this. And no trace on Flyertalk. So probably BS
United actually “sells” group 2 “privilege” so wouldn’t think they would get rid off it. I would just gate check my carryon instead of dealing with fighting for overhead bin space.
Com’on D1, check your carry on?
