Underwhelming

Compared to other UA lounges, it's decent. It's never crowded, is clean and was remodeled relatively recently. Also it has lots of windows. Food selection is weak and it is a United lounge, so they nickel and dine you at the bar.

Using Marriott Bonvoy points for a stay for my parents: I have in the past used my SPG points and added my father’s name (by teaching out to the hotel after booking) to the reservation. It worked just fine and they even benefits fronm my Elite benefits (free breakfast). Just booked a stay for February for them and read the following “Hotel rewards e-certificates can only be requested by a Marriott Rewards member for a reservation in that member's own name. E-certificates will not be honored”

I haven’t seen my partner in over a year due to covid and I know his family is going to want to do a family trip once restrictions are lifted to go visit him overseas. (He is in the army stationed in South Korea). Would it be wrong of me if I said I wanted to go alone and be with him by myself? I feel like that may make me look a tad bratty but I don’t want to spend time with his family all fighting for his attention.

I have an approved l-140 (India priority date) and beyond 6 years of my H1-B at this point. In final stages of Interview process and had a chat with the Immigration team of the firm. They said they are good with the H1B transfer but for the GC reapplication, the firm policy dictates that they need to wait at least an year. Is that even an option for me? I thought the GC process needs to be restarted right after joining the new firm.

Anyone else feel weird that they will likely never make as much as their parents/provide their kids a similar childhood? The odds of making MD/Partner are outright low, and a lot of luck is involved. Statistically it’s likely I’ll fail out around M/SM and peak at that salary forever.
