Universal Orlando trip? I am seeing an uptick in covid cases and articles sayin the area is "crisis mode". We have a group all vaxxed except for 1 -small child and 1 half vaxxed (next shot isnt until we get back). Would you go or is this fear mongering again?

Personally I wouldn't go unless everyone was vaccinated. The trajectory is getting worse right now, not better.

thanks! I am thinkin the same but was wondering if I was overreacting.

Florida is getting hit really hard right now with Covid. I am fully vaccinated but recently tested positive. I know a ton of other fully vaccinated people who have also been testing positive. While being vaccinated definitely helps to not get severe symptoms, it will not necessarily keep you from contracting the virus. If it were me, I would pass on the trip knowing how contagious this thing is

I’ve been twice in the last 10 months (October and May). The second trip ended the day before UOR lifted their indoor mask requirement. Wife, oldest daughter, and I are all vaccinated. Two younger kids are not vaccinated. Not worried about myself, but I would be hesitant to go now because of them. It’s rough wearing a mask in the heat and humidity as well.

I’d go

Even if someone in your group got Covid, it probably wouldn’t be severe given children don’t get demolished by it and the other person is about 50% protected. I would go — have fun and live your life.

smart

Eh 🤷‍♀️ there are only so many years where going to universal studios is magical for the kiddies. It’s a calculated risk for sure, but personally one I would take.

like

No way - protect your kids and go when it’s safe.

Hard no.

Your vaccinated live your life

Get your kid completely vaxxed and leave the younger one at home. I recently did a trip to Orlando, I'm vaxxed and was fine. Went with friends whose family was vaxxed as well. If you go to the parks, or any of the attractions in Orlando, just be aware that no one is social distancing and it is very, VERY crowded. So standing in line waiting on rides you're going to be surrounded by people probably in confined spaces depending on where you are. Shopping in Disney Springs? Same situation. I saw 1/5 of people wearing their masks. The heat and humidity makes it very uncomfortable to wear. You may be okay but I definitely wouldn't chance it with a little one and anyone who isn't completely vaccinated in your travel party.

Thanks for this info! I informed the mom of the little one about the increasing cases and she stated that she has already had covid so has antibodies. Mom/Dad has COVID and this little one was sickly but never tested. They called Ped and asked about bringing her in and they said no, we can just assume she has it. I dont recall the time frame but I think its been at least 6mos. Not sure how long antibodies will last. I see so many different answers on the antibidy info. Kinda hoping they just close the parks for a short time since I honestly feel some folks are big risk takers. I am worried about the little one mostly.

My mat leave ends next month and I am absolutely dreading it. I’m fortunate that my baby is easy going and sleeping well so my time with her has been great. Currently working at Accenture as a C (promoted Dec ‘19), but I know I ultimately want to make the jump over to Deloitte. I am on track to be promoted to M in the 2021 promo cycle and I know Deloitte would likely knock me down one level either way. Due to COVID-19, it seems like it doesn’t make sense to jump ship for at least another year while things get back to normal. Any thoughts on if it’s better to wait it out and leave after making M (but how long after?) or try to leave earlier? TIA

To con't the conversation on engagement rings💍 - what do they symbolize to you? My BF and I got into a discussion about this last night. He views them as an investment and an "asset" on the books for his future family. He also has grandparents who had to finance their trip to America by selling their jewels. I see the ring as more of a gift to the future bride that is an expense that can be sold for money if needed, but isn't an investment. I'm fine w/ lab grown, he is not. Thoughts?

I’ve been creating my pre-recorded video lectures using Screencastify since the beginning of the school year without any issues. However, right before the holiday break my students started experiencing issues where the screen would go completely black in the middle of a video. Has anyone experienced this before? I’m wondering if it might have to do with the program becoming overburdened by the volume of videos being created on the platform.
