Better WLB doesn’t only mean that get more time to free your mind but it also means that you can upskill yourself in the current role of which in turn is beneficial to the company. Corporate Bootlickers only harm themselves by opposing this.

I go to this grocery store just so I can see the handsome guy that works there. I could go to any grocery store I don’t need to go to that one but I go there to see the handsome guy.

I have a friend I used to be close with but we’ve grown apart over the years. She hasn’t worked in several years yet supports herself in NYC, focusing most of her energy on dating. Only wealthy men. Recently she had a fling w a guy for a couple months and got pregnant. They had a huge fight and broke up, she was distraught, and I impulsively offered to fly to NY for her abortion so she wouldn’t have to be alone. Then I found out she basically blackmailed him to pay her almost $100k (contd)

After 18 years, I lost my art room to a classroom this year in order to spread out kids due to Covit19. They said we can’t hand out papers.. kinda thinking art is remote for all. I will do lessons on google classroom with live lesson to classrooms and home. I was told special area teachers may be “repurposed”. We will be used like a TA. One class will be spread out two rooms.Aday teacher in one room, I help in other room. B day teachers switch 😳😷☹️.. I know I’m lucky to have a job but.

Hey all, can anybody tell me how much time does Hcl takes to complete Canada work permit process from there side for normal process not premium.

I hate dating, but I want to fall in love and get married and have a family.

Maybe this is a weird one/I'm over analyzing but here goes:

I got back from NAPABA this week and have felt super inspired and motivated. One of the mid levels in my group (straight white guy) noticed I was in a good mood, even though I've been pulling crazy hours since I got back (we're on a bunch of the same deals). Basically he said "can you share some of that motivation w me? I need some" to which I sort of stumbled over a reply that danced around the fact that I mainly feel good bc NAPABA..

Is it common to have to follow-up with a recruiter consistently in order to move to the next steps in an interview process? I'm interviewing with a company for a remote customer success position, and it's a 4-interview process. I have 1 final panel interview. The people I've been interviewing with have been great, and the recruiter is very positive, however it feels like things are dragging out here towards the end, and I've been following up/prompting for next steps. Is this a red flag?

If someone wants to change from help desk work to programming but can't afford pricey schools what language would most beneficial to learn? And do you have recommendations for where/how to learn?

CS and SWE is great in that it can be applicable to a great range of fields, to create immensely helpful tools for other things.

What are some areas where SWE intersects with things that help people, country, and the world? Now also add in making a decent living and generally competitive with other SWE “industry”.

Things that come to my mind are government-related, military, some fintech. Sciences have great need of computing, and can have big impact, but income is less clear.

I spent two years freelancing and landed my first full time position in April! I'm grateful and super excited, and now that I've achieved this goal I'm wondering what actions or habits I need to take at work to put my self in a position to eventually be promoted to senior engineer or possibly into a management or principal role down the line? Any advice, resources or critiques are appreciated!

I got an offer from OpenText Canada for a Sernior Java Developer. How much is the salary for such positions? Is 70k per annum low?

My manager had been saying some REALLY over the line stuff in standup meetings. Truly inappropriate details about his sexuality and also some stuff about my religion etc. We (the software developers) told HR. They spoke to him and he stopped being a weirdo but the company never addressed it further with us. Is that normal? I’ve never been a part of an HR investigation before and I don’t know what to expect

I'm a SWE from Italy. Love my country but salary and taxes here are outrageous. Got 2yrs experience in fullstack and data science, 2masters, a peer reviewed paper and outperform all my peers for 24k€ a year.
I'm thinkin about landing a remote SWE job (leetcoding and building a portfolio this summer).
Have you got some advice? Is it possible to work for US remotely without visa? What other countries pay well? Is it possible to land a 100k$+ with this kind of experience and working from Italy?
