Unlimited pto is ONLY good for employers. Employees due to work demands, utilization will never take a lot of pto and when an employee departs with the company, no pto is owed to them, the employer is off the hook

Yes. Not sufficiently. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Seriously. If I had unlimited, I’d use so much
We have "unlimited vacation," but since we also have a billable hour requirement and everyone works on a percentage basis and not salary... I don't know anyone that takes actual vacations. They just take their work with them wherever they go.
No. N/A If your quality of work is starting to drop off then that’s a bad sign or if you’re accomplishing much less in a year than your peers. I’d compare to what you got at a different company that gave you a set amount and would say use that to establish a safe range. If you’re working harder and getting more accomplished more efficiently, then I think you can certainly take more time off. I’m tired of people complaining that “it’s bad” because honestly, in my opinion, it’s on you to take advantage of it. I know people who have it and like it. If your company culture discourages use then what difference does it make if it’s accrued or unlimited. Same culture, different policy. Be a part of the change in paradigm instead of a victim of your circumstances. Just my two cents

Well, one reason it’s bad for the employee, is that a lot of people like the extra cash from accrual payouts. That benefit goes away. I can’t really take more PTO. Even when PTO was accrued, earned more than my spouse, so the buffer becomes a nice cash stipend and I’m not able to take advantage of the benefit I’ve been given in exchange for taking that away.
I’m finding that I’ve been getting a lot of things done in a short period of time. I’ve been told from multiple sources that even my 50% effort days are better than a lot of people’s 100% days. So it can be challenging to fill my work days since I get nearly all of it done in the mornings. It doesn’t feel right to just “move the mouse” but I’m more ahead than they can give me work for….so I wanted to use pto for leaving early. My only reservation was I didn’t want to send the wrong message by using it consistently like that.
