Need some vacation advice. I’m at an all-inclusive that was billed as “luxury”, but food and service are mediocre, the resort is run down, and we’ve had mult instances with other guests making drunken scenes. My wife and I have been doing the all-inclusive route for a while now and I think we’ve come to the conclusion that we need to just go to an expensive, pay as you go resort to get the food, service, and higher caliber of guests. Suggestions on such a place? Carribean preferred. Thanks.
I miss reading for fun. I need a vacation. Does anyone else ever fantasize about Jerry Maguire-ing outta here?
I can’t stand people who are “taking time off” and are online doing work. Like, why?!? Have some boundaries for yourself. No one thinks you’re a hero for doing this.
After you have given notice in California, do you still accrue PTO for the time between when you gave notice and when you depart the law firm?
Anyone done a Great Lake family vacation with young kids? Meeting friends and both have a 2 year old. Recs appreciated - Ideally drivable from Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Cleveland (nonstops). TYIA
Vacation ideas? Keep in mind I'm poor
What percentage of your day are y’all productively working? Lately I’ve been super distracted on my phone, personal email, holiday plans, posting about all the above on fishbowl, and I’m trying to figure out if it’s just me.
What could your employer do to make you happy and want to stay? I go first 🙋🏽 more time off and leadership be an example by discouraging unrealistic overtime work
Getting ready to come back to work after a week of vacation. Definitely feeling imposter syndrome and that I’m not smart enough to come back to Int’l tax. Anyone else ever feel this way about their jobs?
That feeling when a well meaning manager keeps ending meetings with “have a happy holiday, and enjoy some time off with your family,” and he is unaware that some of us (a) already celebrated Hanukkah (and don’t really celebrate anyway), (b) are alone and unhappy, (c) kind of have no reason to burn PTO for a non holiday when you’re alone, bored, and have nothing going on in yet another month of a terrible year. It’s like one more set of fingers on a chalk board listening to such pleasantries.
ACN: Can charge to central training instead of pto if I'm going to take classroom training and certification?
Quick question ya’ll: How much accrued PTO is normal? Is “up to 5 days accrued PTO” bad?
Ive been on high intensity projects since June of 2020 and I am so grateful but I am exhausted....I need time off, but my current team seems really intense and doesn’t take well to people taking off. What can I do?
I work at a boutique firm and they are re-evaluating their PTO policy. How many PTO days does your firm offer?
My wife is asked to take unpaid time off for an indefinite amount of time vs. being officially furloughed. Is this disadvantageous to her since she can’t get unemployment benefits?
I’m very bullish on recovery and a boom in dining, vacations, travel etc. What symbols should I be looking into that are still reasonably priced and not burdened with massive debt?
Massive layoff at Crispin CPB LA just let go of everyone but about a dozen people. It’s pretty much closed.
Does turning down a Big 4 job offer, due to bad timing, hinder chances if I reapply there in a few years?
Got an offer for a position that I really want and more salary. Problem is that I love my team. Both companys have above 4.5 stars on glass door. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
Applied to Boston Consulting Group through a referral link and got an email from HR asking me to reapply in a month. Is my original referral still valid or do I have to get it redone?
Transferring from one HCOL city to another later this year. LinkedIn shows salaries for my level are 2% higher in the new city. Any advice on negotiating a raise with HR before my transfer? Trying not to be in the dark on my salary post-transfer until the last minute (I’m cynical and worried they might even try to pull off a slight reduction), and ideally I want at least a slight raise.
I haven’t taken any vacation (other than one day here and there) all year. I’m taking two weeks off at the end of November and just told a partner and he was shocked (presumably at the length). Is this a faux pas?
Hi Fishes, Can someone help with negotiating the offered salary from one company as I received a higher offer from a different company. Is it ok to send a mail first stating the details and then talking on call to negotiate the offer. What are the chances of these strategy back firing, as the market is hot right now I think they will be able to provide me a revised offer, what do you think. Notice period remaining is only 15 days and I will be joining the next company immediately. TIA
Anyone ever heard of LifeSci Partners? Curious if anyone has any insight on their culture, specifically interested in WLB.
Should I keep applying or give up? I graduated from a mediocre law school 10 years ago (cum laude) and have a tax llm from a good school but mediocre grades(3.1) . I am licensed. I work in public accounting and am at one of the large firms. I do tax controversy, writing, research, international. I applied for tax law firm job over the years - rejected. I interviewed with a small firm today - it's an intellectual step down - I can't do that. Big law still an option or stop disappointing myself?
Is the SPHR or PHR license necessary to pivot into human capital? I have a MBA from a Top 15 school. Any thoughts?
Do any other firms have a policy that requires you to return to work for a certain period after paid parental leave, and if you choose to leave you are required to pay it back? If so, is there anyone who decided to leave before the end of that period? What happens if you can’t afford to pay it back?

Have you noticed a very peculiar smell in the tunnel connecting concourse B and C in ORD? What is it? Wanna read your guesses. Mine is old hotdog water and onion 🤷♂️
Having grown up in the lower middle class and not with much money family wise, I always thought one day when I made six figures I would have tons of money coming in, but lately I am discouraged with my “take home pay”. Combined my wife and I make about $275k, we max both our 401k accounts out and after all taxes, and other deductions we take home roughly $150k. Don’t get me wrong this is a great amount. I just always dreamed my take home would be more. Anyone else feel this way? We lose over 40%
Does anyone have a view on working at Shopify? What’s work life balance like in general and do they pay well? Looking at manager-level position in finance.
Hey guys I’m interviewing for the solution engineer new grad program at salesforce for Dallas. I was wondering if anyone knew what tc I should expect as I’ve seen crazy high and crazy low numbers.
