Looks like Europe covid cases are on the rise. Anyone cancelling holiday travel plans in light of that? Was considering going to France. I’m a healthy 30F and have taken the booster.
Just posting to show off my new unicorn 🦄 badge 💁♂️. Apparently, I’m a coronavirus “enthusiast.” Have a good day!
I am at a point in my job search (2+ years, laid off 5 months before COVID) where I’m really starting to think the career I have chosen doesn’t want me back. I worked in HR previously, and I have no idea where or how to start figuring out a new career path. I’m stable money-wise for now. But with the student loan repayments coming active again soon, the money situation will get tighter.Any advice on changing careers after 40? Much appreciated!
Coronavirus -over 2000 deaths worldwide. Average flu deaths in the US every year - between 16k and 61k.
As a fully-vaccinated person, what should I think about plans to meet with an unvaccinated person who’s recently recovered from “a really bad flu”(+lost sense of smell)/“definitely-not-COVID”?
Prisoner’s dilemma. If everyone follows COVID-19 protocol 100%. Society is better for it but at the cost of personal inconvenience.
1,800 new infections, minimum. https://www.arre.co.in/coronavirus/priest-gujarat-godman-covid-19-prasad-with-saliva/
I live in DC. After COVID lockdown is over I am still never going to any of the Smithsonians.
Hey guys. I’m the event planner for CLSA at my law school and was wondering if anybody is willing to be on a panel regarding ethics during the coronavirus regarding the way confidential information is sent and received, how you guys use zoom for depositions or any ethical challenges you’ve come across during this time. Thank you!
Where do you think education and entry level jobs are going to go in the next year given the current situation / new variant of COVID etc?
I’m planning a 12 guest wedding in November, fully outdoors with social distancing and many preventative measures in place. I did a pulse check with all guests and all are comfortable except a family member who is keen on shaming me. Really would love a sanity check from this group. We have been engaged two years and just want to move on with our lives. A big wedding isn’t something we’d want even outside of COVID. We are taking every precaution and I’m tired of the guilt.
CDC's current best estimate is that 35% of Covid infections are asymptomatic and mortality rate for symptomatic infections is only 0.4%. Hindsight is 20/20, but this was all a huge overreaction and not worth the economic cost and long-term negative impact of shutting everything down. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html
Anyone have any insight to starting a business as a 23 year old woman. I want to start a bar/lounge kinda establishment after covid and just wanted some professionals advice in how much money I need to save to start this up in a city like chicago for example. I know this is a pretty general question but I’m just starting the ideation phase of this so any advice is appreciated !
I have patients who have tested positive for COVID RNA for the last month. Wondeirng if I'm ever going to be able to let them go back to work.
Have you guys heard of ayahuasca? I spent two months of covid lockdown talking to some guy and now he just told me he did this a few years ago... I’m really not a substance/drug person so idk what to think. He keeps bringing it up in convo, even though it was in the past. I’m trying to be open minded but it’s honestly making me uncomfortable. I’ve read about it, but if anyone’s willing to tell me what they know it would be help. My friends are pretty much like me so they’ve never heard of it.
Were there any major lay-offs at Deloitte Consulting due COVID? How is the overall job security?
Thoughts on living in Hoboken? I currently have apt in East Village but haven’t moved due to covid and lease expires soon. I’m starting to like the idea of Hoboken, especially since my office will be in Hudson Yards. Post-covid, I also think I’m less tied to living inside Manhattan too. I want space and feel like I could maybe even keep my car with me in Hoboken. Seems generally cheaper too, but I’m less concerned about price than quality of life. Would definitely prefer more bang for $. Thanks!
Do you ever feel like your life has just been paused for years? Not because of covid but just because you retreat away from it
I have an offer to start in a week but I haven't given any notice. I'm worried about making the jump and given the Covid19 I have the opportunity to work both - slight overlap. Should I ride both?
My students eventually get bored and restless when it comes to a classroom routine esp towards the end of the year. How can I keep things interesting but also consistent?

That look when I receive an email about a new Teams Channel where I find an update instructing me to sign up for team updates via Yammer and training via Zoom.
Feeling very demotivated and used finding out I might very likely be passed for promotion this year. MBA from a top 10 school and honestly felt I was cream of the crop from a work perspective (contd)
Any recommendations to switching to a new Consulting firm? I’ll have my MBA in May and Deloitte isn’t willing to adjust my salary afterwards. By the time I’ve graduated, I’ll have 1 YOE in consulting but 14 YOE in the federal government.
Globally, 77% of PR firms expect the COVID-19 pandemic to harm their bottom line. In a report from PRovoke Media, respondents shared a grim outlook for the immediate future of the PR. https://www.provokemedia.com/research/article/covid-19-77-of-pr-firms-expect-loss-of-earnings-as-pressure-hits-consumer-spend
Older workers and COVID unemployment... bogus firings and more. IBM is called out specifically here. The EEOC found that IBM engaged in “systematic” discrimination against older workers and there’s an open class action lawsuit. The stories in this video are appalling. If you are young, pay attention. You may be older one day - if you’re lucky. This can eventually come around to you. https://youtu.be/sjr27_K8SWc
Hi everyone, Im currently working in operations at FB and am curious to understand how internal pivots work to product or S&O? I have previous consulting experience where I did both. Is this possible? Is it an option to get an MBA to land this? Thanks in advance! Facebook
My work is highly focused on inclusion and today, while driving through the park, I felt bad for laughing at a group of larpers. They have nerf combat gear, too. I tried hard not to be insensitive to them being their true selves but i laughed … hard! And now I feel bad for laughing at them.
Anyone have insight into Simon-Kucher & Partners vs. Kx Advisors for a summer internship?
How do you go from united silver to gold? I feel like I have been silver forever and I've been consistently traveling.
Anyone watching Indian Matchmaking? Aparna and her mother have to be the worst, right? She thinks she's a godsend and quite frankly she looks like a potato, is ignorant, doesn't sound nearly as intelligent as she professes to be, and is even more negative than I am! That's gotta say something.
Ok fishbowl family - I need advice. Rising senior 1 here and realizing that I genuinely get no joy out of audit. I’m way too stressed and really do not care about accounting and have made it a life goal to never book a journal entry. I want to take the next year to figure out what my dream job is and go for it. Here’s what I like: I love talking to people, mentoring & teaching, organizing, learning. I literally loved everything in college- I was between majoring in accounting or psychology. 1/X
For those of you with ADHD, do you have any tips for managing workload and inboxes? I didn’t take meds for a few years due to pregnancy, etc. but I started again recently. I was position where all of my work came from a single partner and 75% of my hours were days long depositions. I’ve recently switched firms and now get assignments from 4+ people. In addition to managing tasks and structuring, I get distracted when responding to emails and have trouble getting back to my actual billable work.
MBB fish: for those who've left, would you consider returning back as EM/PL? If so, what would be your main drivers?
What is the best way to book vacation (ideally bundles - flights, accommodation etc.) for Maldives?
What kinds of books, podcasts, TED talks, etc would you recommend for a recent college grad who has low self esteem, is professionally immature and for whom the prospect of entering the world of work is daunting and stressful? Trying to find ideas/frameworks that will change mindset, tips, tools and heuristics for self organization, management, soft skills in a professional setting etc
