To them, your new weight will seem normal and they probably won’t even think about it. Don’t over think it.
Agree, we all know people will look different in person. Most people have old pictures.
Hate to say this, my co workers are just people I work with. So I honestly don’t care how my co workers look. It’s the least of my problems. So don’t worry about it.
Are you saying you care about how your coworkers look? Or that you care what they think of you?
O. M. G. Are you me???
I struggle with body dysmorphia and an eating disorder and I have this issue often. I’ve gained like 5-7 pounds in the last few months and although it’s a small amount, for someone with pre-existing eating disorders it feels like the end of the world. My team wants to go into the office next Friday and at first I was freaking out but now I’m telling myself, who cares? So what we’ve gained some weight. Everyone has! Weight fluctuates and we shouldn’t let our weight or appearance dictate the fun activities we get to experience! Hell, most people don’t even notice when others have put on a few pounds. I encourage you to go and have a good time but I know how it feels. If it’s really something you’re not comfortable with then sit this one out. Tell them you’re not feeling well and just take some time to yourself. What matters most is your comfort and happiness so do what’s best for you.
And if your weight is a huge issue for you then try making little adjustments to your lifestyle. You are beautiful no matter what size you are but eating healthier and exercising can make you feel better. Try doing that but instead of focusing on weight loss, just focus on doing it to feel good.
Either way, you’re amazing! Try not to let the opinions of others influence your sense of self and happiness!
Edit: typo lol
Don’t have any advice but want you to know I’m in a similar situation also - we will get through this! If anything I am channeling this discomfort into motivation to get back in shape, so consider that the silver lining.
Buy something new that you really like and that is flattering on you and get yourself dressed up if you need to - that’s how I got through it and then the next day I went on the peloton
One of my partners has got it be in his 50’s and his headshot is from 20 years ago. I was hardly phased when I saw him in real life - I think we all expect that headshots are old and pandemics aren’t easy
No one cares
Girl same I’m going back to the office in a few weeks and trying on my old work clothes was a REALLY humbling experience. Nothing fits at all and now I’m trying to buy new clothes that fit but I’m so mad at my body that I don’t like any of the clothes I’m just spiraling.
Also spanx (which I have never ever worn before)
Just remember everyone else is feeling insecure for some reason or another as well. Maybe even for the same thing! It doesn’t lessen your fears, but your weight isn’t a concern of theirs. Remind yourself to not project your own disappointment to them. You are smart, lovely, and beautiful.
I’ve gotten traveled or gotten together with work people a few times, professionally and for fun, and each time I think how different EVERYONE looks from when I last saw them! Plenty of people whose weight has changed — but also, facial hair, hairstyle, glasses/contacts, etc. tattoos! You may look different than your photo but so many people are going to look way different (than headshot and/or last IRL contact) too. I don’t think any one person’s differences will be more than a blip on the radar, if that’s any comfort.
Im in the same boat - im not scared people will compare me to my pics per se but know I look a lot fatter and am super self conscious about it :/
