4 months of unemployment due to being let go early COVID and not being able to find a job killed my 25k savings account. Goal is 50k now. Lesson learned that 4 months of savings is not enough. What have you guys learned from COVID?
How do consultant-consultant couples make it through especially with respect to communication and giving each other time? I know it’s hard to find time. Would love to hear about your experiences as long-distancing during Covid-19, and being able to support each other even through shit schedules and long work hours. Thanks!
Live in Jersey City. Drivers license expiring next month. Need to get mine transferred from Mass to NJ before renewal. DMV during COVID is giving out tokens at 5am and folks need to wait for 6-10 hours outside the office apparently. Does anyone know an easier way to do this? Driving schools? Brokers? Thank you!
Does anyone have any leads on potential jobs in IT, like IT Support or Help Desk in DC? My SO was laid off today due to COVID.
Do any of you do trachs on COVID 19 positive pts? We have several patients that have been on vent for 20 plus days. Are there clinical guidelines around trachs for COVID patients?
Anyone know of any good tools/resources with job prospects for 65+ trying to find employment after behind laid off during COVID? I imagine many have been forced into early retirement. Unfortunately, it appears the discrimination is very real when it comes to allowing “retirees” to participate in our workforce.
So I was hired exactly 2 months prior to this covid epidemic and as a result it has made learning how to be a lawyer quite a rollercoaster. I’m trying to learn how things are supposed to be but in all actuality, I’m having to be flexible and figure out how things are working at the moment...which is fine, but it’s hard to predict much of anything when you have nothing to compare it to. Being a law student and interning is nothing compared to practicing. Any advice!?
What type of self help strategies do individuals actually find helpful when you feel burn out or stuck in a rut? Any books, apps, meditation, podcasts, etc, others find helpful? I've done therapy and it has definitely helped this past year with covid and a marriage separation, starting to feel like I'm making progress and want to keep up the momentum. Looking to see what type of self help others find actually beneficial and would love to use that to help others stuck in burn out too
Is it too late to get biontech stock? Seems like we are going to get vaccines for Covid on a regular basis?
This article is a good read in terms of how to handle the COVID-19 crisis: https://blog.shrm.org/blog/promoting-workplace-mental-health-in-the-age-of-covid-19
I see so many friends going on vacations, traveling via air, car, train, etc. this includes within the country and abroad. Am I stupid for not going anywhere since Feb 2020??? What information about COVID have I missed? I know precautions are choices taken by individuals but how do I justify missing out on fun when so many folks are planning vacations and traveling freely? Thoughts??
Just got back from (safe) traveling - NY to Boston via Amtrak - and have my covid vaccine first dose tomorrow. Is there any risk to taking the vaccine while potentially carrying the virus (no idea of chances but I’m feeling perfectly fine)?
Did anyone that has Covid tell their manager they have Covid? I am about to get tested and can barely breathe I think I need to take a few days off work...
Do I need to initiate LCA assessment request? I’m currently on F1 student visa using my OPT. I got selected in the lottery this year and I just responded to the RFE so I still don’t have the H1B(cont)
Anyone from EY have had their H1B filed fully and got receipt yet? I saw post below about transfers being filed and approved but my question is for initial/first time filing.
With Hilton now. Should I switch to SPG or Marriot? Do it before or after the official merger?
Did you discuss salary/title before an offer was extended? What timeline from interview?
Prestige or 30% better take home salary?
I get really anxious when I don’t have much to do at work, I start worrying I’m going to get in trouble for being under utilized.. does anyone else ever experience this?
Just got a call from my Mom asking me how to read a pivot table breaking down the vacation itinerary I sent her 🙈 😳
Anyone know if United will status match Delta?
Counselor and SM on engagement say they'd recommend me for a promotion to M this year. Should I keep my hopes up? Or is it just a mid-year kumbaya coz I'm still S2 with 6 years of exp and master's.
What’s a reasonable salary bump to look for if I’m trying to jump from one big four to another? Currently at 100k with 4.5 YOE at DT
Anyone recently gone on maternity leave in California? Mine starts next week & it seems like the only option to receive the State paid disability portion is on a debit card instead of direct deposit?
Has anyone changed jobs while on F1 OPT? How do you navigate the sponsorship issue? Do you tell them early in the process or late? Which firm/industry did you exit to?
Hi ladies. I need some advice. I'm currently out on maternity leave, to return in about a month. I was just informed my male counterpart in my department will be getting a promotion by our new boss. This is really a slap in the face considering I've been trying to fight for equal pay since last year when I found out another (former) male counterpart of mine was making 40k more than me. What would you do in my situation? Demand to know why I wasn't considered? Leave?
Really saturated with all this work stress. Bay Area folks please help. Taking next week off. looking for 1-2 days getaways. - Any nearby camping spots (off-beat) - beach points with good sunset (even better if bonfire allowed and supplies provided)
Random thought... My gay male context plus the pandemic has amplified the "this isn't worth it" view of my unbalanced work life balance. I am never going to have kids and don't need to keep grinding for the next promotion etc. like my head of household peers with children. Do you feel the non-traditional household / income demands that LGBTQIA+ we live with are making you more easily say "enough is enough" with work as the valuation of our time has increased during the pandemic? 🤔
Can anyone give insight to typical hiring process for Microsoft corporate functions, specifically for an HR Program Manager role? Salary ranges would be extremely helpful as well!
