As someone who has done this on more than one occasion, I can tell you that, if it is a big firm, most likely it will not get past their assistant/secretary who filters such emails. You will not be blacklisted, so my advice is to send the email directly first 😁

Thank you! That’s my worry - I will approach partners directly!

Get someone to refer you. I was once rejected by a firm in-house recruiter, found a partner contact at same firm, then got an offer from that firm after that partner referred me. I had someone else in my network intro me to the partner; I didn’t cold email or call them.

I want to brag on my kid, but I don’t want to embarrass him, so I’m doing it here. My college sophomore found out today that he ended up with a B in his accounting class - which is remarkable, given that he received a 50 on his first exam and a 70 on his second. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen him work this hard - and I couldn’t be more proud. The grades that come easily don’t impress me nearly as much as the ones that are hard fought.

I'm struggling with imposter syndrome. I'm from a working class background, c.10 years exp in marketing & c.3 years in snr leadership. I'm in an exe leadership team with all men. It's all very fluid. Frequent restructures. Bitching/gossiping at snr level.

I feel like I'm not good enough, dynamic enough, doing enough. I ask open qz, probing for feedback. It all seems positive/constructive. With the toxicity, I don't trust any of it. Does anyone have any suggestions to navigate and overcome IS?

I’ve recently been staffed on a deal with a partner (& one of the dept. chairs), a 1st year associate & summer associate (I’m class of 2018).
