Unsure if I’m just lazy or depressed. I am so, so burnt out all the time. Evenings? Can barely work up the energy to leave my desk and commute home. Weekends? Just want to stay at home. What is this?

Are you doing anything outside of work? I would say find something that you are really passionate about and even if you aren’t feeling it go out and do it. For me a lot of it is procrastination and the idea of ‘starting’ something, but once I get going I’m fine. Try to find and incorporate joy into your life, this life is too short.

I'll back this up 100%, because I've been in your situation and mindset. What pulled me out was picking up a hobby and spending less time with the team outside of work hours. Boxing was mine, but I suppose any hobby that isn't self-defeating will help you.

I realize you can’t diagnose over an app (of course!). I’ve been the “sad type” of depression before. I KNEW I was depressed. This time I’m not so sure? It’s been constant for a year or so. I’ve gained weight. I have no desire to do much of anything

OP- I can definitely relate and ask myself those same exact questions. You are not alone

I have been/am there now. The idea of going out in the cold is a major drawback for me. But also, in CBT I've learned that motivation actually comes AFTER action. So waiting until you're motivated or "feel like it" ... you could be there forever. Just get started and see how it goes

like

ah this is super helpful. i think i’ve definitely been waiting to feel motivated. thank you!

I feel the same exact way. Couldn’t have said it better myself

Schedule things you can look forward too, esp with friends or buddies. Even if you’re scheduling time to watch your favorite movie, try a new recipe at home, catching up via phone with a friend, fitness class or manicure...making plans you can look forward to and following through will lift spirits because those things will feel like “you time”, not “firm time monopolizing my life.” Sleep and exercise are always good default mood boosters

Dude you are BURNED OUT from work. You need a vacay and a break

Looking for advice/input:

I’ve dealt with ADHD my entire life, although was just diagnosed last year. Throughout my career (assurance>industry>consulting), I’ve been able to “outwork” everyone else in the office to counter the lack of focus and other associated faux pas associated with the disorder. Recently have hot a point where I can’t put in the hours (3 yo/fam), and my work has taken a major hit. Anyone in consulting/assurance have any methods for managing this when it comes to PM duties?

Second, filling out admin forms, I miss things, misunderstand. I am feeling really down on myself. I am I high performer and always deliver on complex projects, but these things, it’s like I’m totally out of it. Could it be ADHD? Depression (I’m medicated)?
