How do large firms value bar service? I find a lot of fulfillment by volunteering for my local bar, but those efforts take a lot of time and detract from billing hours or otherwise spending that time with family. Are your firms supportive of your involvement? For the partners, does bar involvement come up for partnership decisions and does it reflect positively on the candidate?
