It's always been a dream of mine to work at Google, specifically as a UX designer (currently transitioning into UX from visual design). I've been so afraid to apply to any jobs with UX title, Google or not, because I'm always doubting myself and telling myself I'm still under-qualified.
UX designers & hiring managers, what are the skills a designer must have to be "qualified" for a UX position? Keywords on resume? Certifications? Thank you all in advance!

Sometimes when I don’t feel comfortable saying or if I’m not sure, I just ask them what their budget is!
Yes thats the best approach
Check on Glassdoor and LinkedIn salary! Even indeed. They’re helpful and pretty up to date resources and you can search by location
Retweet in the 110-150.
If they like you enough they will agree or come back with their highest #
Pad it!!! They’ll most likely negotiate you down. Always aim higher.
Give a big range and the lowest should be your minimum expectation so anything more is just icing on the cake
Dude with 8 years of exp, you should make nothing less than 160k you bring over 20,000 hours of design work. Think from that perspectives
Yes, arent you going for a Senior UX position though?

Also, what kind of senior designer? Graphic? UX? Product? Industrial? Interior?
There are huuuge differences in salaries between those

Then that’s probably around $90-$100!
Whatever you think you’re value is. Can always negotiate down, tougher to negotiate up
Ask them what there budget is but go for what you know you deserve I say at least 95
Senior Designer with 8 years experience should be ~$120,000. If in consulting or interface, $150,000+
whomever is making the offer (a job) supplies the price. push back or do your research and give them a rate above what you want.
I’m a remote brand designer making 140,000. 9 years of exp
SF
Check out levels.fyi it’s for tech tho so it’s a little inflated for advertising
How many years of exp do you have?
Two designers that come to mind right away have the official title of “Product designer” one holds a senior position and the other is a lead. Both make over 100k the senior told me himself that he make 120k. They work for a company based in NYC. Canadian jobs tend to pay less than USA based companies. It’s all UX btw the titles are arbitrary.
Depending on experience you can ask for 90k
