Had a callback interview at DC big law about a week ago, a few hours before Covid-19 escalated things. Should I assume I did not get it or that it is on pause? Appropriate to reach out again?
Our baby is due soon so we’ve made the decision that we will only have visits from vaccinated family members (not realizing it would be an issue) only to find out that my Dad will never be getting vaccinated, planned to lie about it AND asked other family members lie to us about his vaccination status too… when we found out and asked him about it, he started to FREAK out. Now I’m questioning if we’re being unreasonable… how have you guys been handling unvaccinated people meeting your newborns??
Folks, this is David Bossie, the man overseeing the Trump legal challenges. But get this, not only does he NOT have a law degree....he doesn’t even have an UNDERGRAD degree....😑😑 What he does have, though, is the coronavirus.....
People have been asking me for referrals post COVID and I want to help everyone but I also know that some people won’t be a great fit. Is anyone else facing this? Does it hurt to refer not as strong candidates? I am assuming they will just get rejected?
Anybody having difficulty getting medical experts to respond lately? Even in non-covid practice areas?
Long post alert. Also, confusing post alert haha. So, I'm going to be divorced in the next few months and have 2 kids who'll be with me. Ever since this situation has been finalized, I'm becoming very conscious of our spend & have been tight about it. Covid has helped. But I noticed that even my grocery store bills are pretty high...like a single run to Meijer is $125+. Costco is like $200 or so. We've always had fresh fruits, nuts liberally used in our house. Anyone wonders what happens if you are working in US as non resident alien and got COVID19? Nobody is going to care? 😕
Anyone been to Disneyland lately? Are there still long lines? My wife and I have been under a rock staying at home due to covid and having a newborn at home and being extra safe, but I wanted to take my wife to Disneyland for Halloween. Is it relatively covid safe there?
How are people getting tested before traveling to a location that requires covid test within 72 hours of traveling? When do you take the actual test to time it to get the results in time
Anyone who had COVID have advice on how to best get through it? Just lots of rest and water?
Annoying how the hospitality industry cut corners for COVID precautions but now are still keeping those corners cut just due to it saving money. Think it'll ever return back to normal completely?
Since the start of the pandemic, I have been fairly safe and really haven’t gone anywhere (I think I went to TJ Maxx once in a moment of weakness lol). My family on the other hand hasn’t taken any precautions and actually did contract COVID. They keep telling me I’m paranoid and need to start going out but with COVID being worse now than it was back in March, I rather just not. I just want them off my back and wish they would respect my decision to not expose myself like I respected them.
Yesterday 2,216 innocent Americans died from COVID. Today, Donald Trump’s only public action was pardoning a person who plead guilty to lying to the FBI to protect Trump. I dare anyone to try to defend that.
I was hoping the vaccine would help us get back to more normal, open, and less restricted activities. In some ways it has but since there are so many unvaccinated, is there any other way we’ll be able to move forward from this pandemic? P.S. I’m not trying to start a big argument, I’m genuinely just looking for the light at the end of this tunnel.
Anyone insanely slammed with COVID briefs and disgusted by it? I’ve never hated working in advertising more then now. We should be ashamed. Stop doing it for an award asshole, but for good.
an old CD of mine is slowly turning into an Illuminati/coronavirus conspiracy theorist with each post on FB. Its sad to see but I can't stop refreshing to see what crazy thing he will post next.
So let me get this straight, Cuomo is accused of sexual assault and for fudging covid data. Prominent democrats all call on him to step down. The DOJ, under Barr’s direction, is actively investigating a sitting member of congress for sex trafficking of a 17 year old girl for the past 6 months. Gym Jordan and MTG’s response: a witch hunt and we stand with jailbait Gaetz. The rest of the GOP is silent. What a time to be alive.
Picked up mountain biking since Covid, what's a good action camera alternative to Go-Pro? I've heard there are much better options at a better price point.
How the FMI predicted the impact of coronavirus on GDP, inflation and emplyment for each country? Any idea about data or the model?
How do you manage breakfast when they eat it in class? I feel like my classroom is such a mess before it is even 9 a.m.
Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls
Received an offer from a pre-IPO (Series D) AI software startup in HCOL city. Trying to assess the offer. Role: Strategy Manager Salary: $115k Equity: 5000 shares ($80k) YOE: 3.5 Benefits: About as good as they come I thought the base salary was going to be higher. Am I being greedy?
Had a 3-person interview with EY recently but HR didn't give clear next steps. Would this be considered a final round and if so, how long would it take to hear back?
I am a second year associate and i Recently got pulled out of my busy season and 10/31 year end job. I have no jobs booked after the pwc year end. Wondering if this relates to early promotion?
Has anyone put their child in daycare/preschool and experienced teachers testing positive for covid with no outbreak? I’ve been looking at two schools and found out both had to quarantine due to teachers testing positive but everything resumed. Trying to figure out if if this is the norm and the level of concern
So...I recently started a new position (within the past year). While I like the practice area, I'm not a huge fan of the type of work I'm doing. I'm a new lawyer. I had planned to stay in this position for years, but I've learned there is very little chance that I will get to do any litigation. Most of the attorneys at my job were previously trial attorneys and they took this position for the slower pace and regular hours. I'm worried about moving on too quickly. Thoughts?
broke up with my boyfriend weeks ago and have been taking it easy on dating. last night had a sex dream about my client counterpart. Now I can’t stop thinking about it when working with him 🤦🏻♀️
Time to sell Zoom? Or hold long?
Is anyone familiar with Uber strategy roles and salary expectations? Applied for a Sr Associate role and the salary is ridiculously below expectations and what I earn now.
I’m > 1 year in and am already noticing there is no such thing as PTO because everyone still works during PTO. Is this the same in industry?
Anyone know what Weil’s average hours are like given that they don’t have billable requirements? A lot of people say big law comparable but I know some people in big law shooting for 2000 and some shooting for 2600 and those are two very different worlds. Was considering applying to a role there but wanted to get a feel for what this really equates to.
Now that i'm back to the classroom, I realize how out of shape/sedentary I have been and I'm absolutely exhausted. How do I get back my energy/ get back in shape... but gradually bc I'm old!!!!
How much does it matter if you exit into an industry you don’t want to eventually work in? I want to work in tech, but I’ve got an offer with an automotive company. Great salary and role, it’s just an industry I’m not that interested in. Will I box myself in? Thanks 🐠
