I pretty much always use my middle initial. I just think it looks nicer, no other reason.

I have a very common name (other people in my jurisdiction have the exact same name) so I’m a fan of using my middle initial.

You put your title, like associate, partner, legal counsel, or some firms just write “lawyer” - we don’t really use the word attorney here. Attorney is sort of reserved for power of attorney, which is a role that people are not required to have a lawyer fill.

For men it tends to be more important as a practical matter because they’re more often named after relatives and would need to distinguish themselves.

Nay

Uniformity to formality. It's a yay.

I’m not a fan actually, but everyone at my firm does it and, you know, fitting in..

Arrow Icon

Yay I’m a fan.

Nay and I have a very common name. If I get married and change my last name I would consider using a middle initial for my maiden name

Arrow Icon

I think I used it for my bar license because someone shared my name already in the system, but now it's my understanding I'm supposed to include it on the firm bio/marketing/email signature because it's how I'm licensed.

Nay
