It's an excel spreadsheet, it'll be ok
Tonight I heard "I will call you if there's an emergency. Please be available."
No.
Hard pass on that one ^
It's accounting. There's no such thing as an emergency. Turn your shit off and enjoy your break
^^Exactly. I'll keep everything turned on and I will check - just like I've done for the last 21 years (or since the invention of smart phones, anyway). And believe it or not, I will respond - if I deem it necessary - and on my schedule, not anyone else's.
Yeah fuck that. I've been very vocal with my team, I don't do emailon vacation. Notifications off and I don't check it, phone or laptop. The notifications and expectation of checking/responding to stuff doesn't let you disconnect and keeps the stress around. Not having it.
^^This. If I want to check/respond it'll be at my leisure and when I see fit. If you have an "emergency" you know how to get in touch with me.
Agreed wth two posts above. I like to have access to what people are sending me because they think it matters. I respond to what I think needs response. The WORST is when somebody tries to fit something into your schedule but doesn't give you details until you tell them you're working on it. I manage my schedule. Need the details to do that.
The work will be there. Recharge and prepare for the next few months. It'll be ok.
Same here - have a good vacation but check your email often in case a client needs something.
