Used our spot bonus on a watch for my dad, who doesn’t have many nice things to include a watch. This felt better than buying any of my Rolexes for myself and grateful to be in a position to do so. Happy Friday everyone!

The first luxury and most expensive watch to date was for my dad after I doubled my salary (zenith el Primero). It feels great to do so, my dad also didn’t have my nice things but came to this country with a hundred bucks in this pocket and gave me a great life. Glad I got to give him something nice. Good for you OP, future family heirloom right there

Very thoughtful gift. You a a great person! My father, not much of a talker and not very emotional, gave me a JLC Reverso at a family meeting. Very casual, just telling me, he has something for me. No big deal. I only grasped later that it was his way telling me that he is proud. I gifted him a watch, I love because of its technology (Humming Watch) with gold fillings, that he loves and wears a lot, even though he has better watches. He has Alzheimer starting in phase 2 but this watch is a fixed thing between us! Still have the feeling I can't express my gratitude better 😔

OP - very thoughtful and your parents should be proud. My siblings and I bought our dad this Air King a while back for the sacrifice he and our mom made for us. He wore this everyday until he passed and in his will he gifted to me. I wish the best and prosperous life for your dad and enjoy in good health!

I remember how proud my dad was of me when I bought myself my first Rolex. I got it at 29, he said “beat me by 21 years” I can only imagine how he’d feel if I got him one. Hopefully I’ll find out some day.

Similar thinking! Bought my dad a black OP 39 two years ago for his 60th There was also a white one in the case but it didn’t pop for me as much as the black. Debated getting one for myself to “pair up”

Have a great opp with a new company for a leadership role and to make a run at partner. BUT there are partners that I had a huge negative interaction early in my career (my first consulting company, we’ve all subsequently moved around). At the time I was young and in the wrong and one of the partners tried (unsuccessfully) to sack me. Should I reconsider the move? Would they block my bid for partner based on bad blood from 10 years ago?
