Used to work at Big 4 for almost a year and left to a mid size firm for more pay and to work with financial services /capital markets . I enjoy the midsize firm more but feel like I should have stayed at big4 a bit longer for the “prestige “. Did I mess up career wise?

No. If you were a good employee and left on good terms you can always come back If you are happy where you are that fr is all that matters. Prestige means nothing if you aren’t making the money you want, or doing the work you want to be. Chill and enjoy where you’re at! Sounds like you made the right move 🍻

Midtierer here. Don't sweat it. There are still good opps from here

like

No? I mean you already have the prestige stamp on your resume and am an easily explain why you went to mid tier. Don’t really see how staying longer would do anything unless you want to work towards partner?

like

Same here OP, but switched to mid tier after senior promo. Honestly depends on what you want in your career. I had a recruiter told me it looks bad, but in my opinion I've learned more in mid-tier than at B4 and everyone at the mid-tier is impressed by ex-B4 so the prestige is still there, and will always have a place on the resume if I decide to leave PA.

You can always come back, specially with that added experience.

Working as an audit staff in big 4 shared service centre. It's been 2 years. I really don't like what I do there, also it seems I won't like what I'll be doing there even after becoming senior. Thinking of leaving and joining industry once ACCA qualified. (One more paper left). But people around me discourage that growth potential and earnings in industry are way less compared to public accounting. I know that too but I still want to leave. I'd like to stick to core accounting. Thoughts pls

Will moving to a smaller company from B4 impact my career as such in the long run? Especially a company which is still growing and has only 150 employees at this moment. It’s not widely known in the market. But, it is growing at a fast pace in the last couple of years. From a work culture perspective, this company offers a lot of flexibility, emphasizes on wlb and employee satisfaction. Been wanting to get out of the toxic B4 work environment. I don’t want to make a hasty decision and regret.

So we're in a pre-bid meeting with a client right now and we're creating a spot that was supposed to feature a diverse collection of body parts. The head client interrupted and basically said her consumers are 80% Caucasian so she does not think we should show lgbtq or people with disabilities and she stopped just short of saying 'too many black people'. She quoted how polarised the country is, implying that seeing diversity in an ad would polarise her white audience. I am livid. Idk what to do
