I was laid off during Deloitte‘s mass layoff in July of last year. I have worked as an independent contractor since and projects haven’t been consistent at the client I’m working for. I’m looking to get back into a big firm and was seeing if anyone would be able to refer me or help get my foot in the door. I was a business analyst for 1.5 years at Deloitte and have several years of additional experience which I’d be more than happy to share.

Lol. I’m on for my two meetings for the day and then reachable by phone if something comes up but I’m not working otherwise
That’s what I do but nice to confirm with a group I am not the only one. Have prior work experience but new to Consulting so it’s a very different work week
Funny how most on this app say they hate consulting cuz they work crazy hours, 60-70 hrs a week when I feel like 40-50 is more accurate when you don’t include travel time and time spent staring into space
I never get why people do not consider travel as working time? I travel because of my work - hence it's working time (and most of the time managers want you to do actual work). Am I missing something here?
All the hatred for people scheduling non-urgent meetings after noon
My SM called me at 4:00pm on a Friday the other week all excited and wanting to brainstorm
loooolnah
PTO is only used if I don't have 40 billable hours 1
lol screw that
Work from home Friday. Team understanding is wrap up by lunch time. Anything urgent will be handled but otherwise enjoy that margarita with lunch
40-50 lol
I straight coast on Friday’s. I take necessary calls and reply to emails but sure as hell don’t take PTO to top up my three hour work day
Charge Friday to admin. Never charge PTO if you have more than 40 hours during the week. And, if you have to take a work call while on PTO, charge that time to a work code
I am working in the company office
Yeah I totally never had a team that cared about ending early on Friday’s
Do you guys charge rest of time to G&A? Or allocate hours worked during the week and charge it on Friday so the total for the week is the same? (We have a minimum daily 8hr requirement on T&E)
This is a good question. I usually charge 8 per day and no more than 40 per week cuz of no overtime. Hence the dilemma if I want pto Friday but I have hit my 40 billable hours. Do I take the day off. Put pto on calendar and allocate my billable hours to Friday? Because in my mind if I only bill 32 and take 8 pto then my firm is losing out on 8 billed hours of work that I did
I just charge them 8 for Friday anyway and tell them I'm waiting for builds to finish
