Vacation in a week; trying to decide Glacier National Park vs Bar Harbor. Trying to compare the two, especially when it comes to crowds and accommodations (Marriott Bonvoy Platinum here) Thoughts?

A lot of the crowds in Bar Harbor come from cruise traffic. I’d imagine now would be a great time to go. Also, if you go to Bar Harbor, make sure to do the happy hour at Galyn’s and go kayaking.

So I grew up in Maine, no cruise traffic this year so could be nice!

Maine is restricting anyone not from VT or NH from vacation rentals (hotels, campgrounds, Airbnb’s, etc.) without producing a negative Covid test or signing an agreement to quarantine for two weeks. Just something to consider.

Thanks Op! That gives me a more peace of mind when traveling in this environment

Really enjoyed Glacier, but nearby Bonvoy properties aren't plentiful. Also, currently the east entrance is closed due to Covid on the Blackfeet reservation

Thanks for the info. What type of accommodations did you book: hotel or Airbnb?

Stayed a few days last August in Glacier. Was awesome. Used a rental through HomeAway or Vascsa. Was great. I don’t believe any Marriott properties are nearby. Things are delayed opening and heard even last week the going to the sun road was open only like 20%.

Been to both. Glacier is more remote. We stayed in very rustic cabins. The hikes to the glaciers are amazing. Bar harbor for Acadia is nice as well. We stayed at a residence inn, I think. It’s what you would expected. Bar harbor is a nice quaint town.

You’d be doing yourself a disservice to stay at Bonvoy properties in either location (unless there’s an off the beaten path Autograph collection I’m unaware of). Treat yourself to a trip to your local REI and then enjoy Glacier or Acadia for what they’re truly worth.

Montana expects you ton quarantine; not sure how they are enforcing

I was at my prior job for many miserable years, got burnt out, took time off, accepted a new job where I’ve been for 1.5 years now. I’m getting that unhappy and burnout feeling again but I don’t understand why and what needs to change. My work life balance here is good, I actually like most of the people I work with, I have a short commute, a reasonable boss, there’s growth potential and other good things I didn’t have before and may not get elsewhere. Any advice?

How do I know if leaving consulting would be right for me? I’ve been thinking about it for the past year. I feel very unfulfilled and unappreciated. I tried to brace through till next promo - which I ended up being passed over for last Dec. I’ve started looking into other lines of work that may be more rewarding for me, but I can’t seem to make the leap. Mainly, I feel reticent on letting go of the prestige that comes with consulting, and that maybe I should hold out for the promotion.
