I work on a COVID taskforce project, tracking the progress of a State. My colleague who’s working with me since last 6 months got COVID 2 weeks ago. Some of his family are in ICU, he had it bad but is a young chap so came out early. Turns out he was unvaccinated n didn’t believe in the vaccine at all, while tracking progress of Millions getting vaccinated. Blew my mind n it put a lot of pressure on our very small team to share the work. I understand ur frustration OP. It’s mind blowing to see this happen. Read abt a story Wher the last message of a Dad to his wife was “Shud hav gotten the fckin vaccine”. He died the same night.

Solid response EY1. Have a great Sunday.

Thank you for sharing this. I’m admittedly getting more lax since most everyone in my life is vaccinated. I’m glad more people are sharing stories like this to remind me of the severity and caution I once felt and should take up again! My BIL’s ICU in Orlando is overflowing with COVID patients and is no longer accepting new patients. I’m starting to cancel plans. OP, I’m sorry you have to deal with this potentially preventable situation, but I hope you sharing it keeps people on their toes

…I confess that a part of me is angry. Not only because I believe their decision likely killed a man who couldn’t make the decision to vax himself, but selfishly, impacts my business too. All they had to do was go to CVS for 15 f’n minutes. But the family didn’t believe in vaccines. And believed that vaccines caused the son’s autism.

Someone else commented “vaccines can sometimes cause autism” but then deleted their comment. We were referring to EY, not OP!

You understand that currently the vast majority of deaths are not from COVID, right?

Does the vast majority matter if your own family member dies? Sheesh.

Yeah I’m confused he’s vaccinated? What else could he have done at that point

EY1 please use Proper Grammar.

My colleague was vax’d but sick this past week. I think his girlfriend, her son, and her sons dad were all unvaxed. All were sick and none got tested to rule out COVID. COVID deny-ers

Have you 100% confirmed his family is unvaccinated ?

If the vaccine works, and he is vaccinated, why do you care?

like

The vaccine doesnt prevent you from being a vector for the disease

Sorry to clarify your title- was this colleague vaxxed or unvaxed?

like

Yes wasn’t clear. The man who died and his mom were not vaccinated. My colleague was, but still got sick.

My fried just died from Covid. Age 34. He had asthma. Tested negative on Wednesday. Went home and found dead Sunday.

I’m so sorry for your friend’s loss. If you do have asthma especially i think it’s so important to take this seriously - my family has asthma and had a thankfully mild case in January - and I think a huge part of the reason we were able to recover without being hospitalized is that we’re on top of our asthma medication routine and had plenty of inhalers / nebulizers that we used to keep our breathing okay. And of course get vaxxed - it was such a huge relief to get mine as soon as it was available

Has anyone been unjustly rejected by their children due to encouragement by other parent/grandparents/other? It happens usually during separation and divorce but could happen within a marriage. In many extreme cases, the child is prevented from a relationship with a parent due to a being blocked physically and emotionally. I'm currently in a toxic marriage where spouse and MIL badmouth me (among other things) to my 5 yo son to the point where he rejects, badmouths, and even bullies me.
