I've been a SDE-2 at Amazon for almost 4 years now (followed by 2 years of SDE-1 experience).
I appeared for Google's SDE-2 role recently and cleared all the tech interviews per my recruiter. If all goes fine in the behavioural round, I should have an offer soon. Fingers crossed.
Now I'm curious, if I go through it, what compensation will I be offered and what should I be able to negotiate it to?

What’s the company? 10% or 20% doesn’t matter given the current TC won’t be higher than 200k. I mean 20-30k here or there shouldn’t be moving the needle if you are financially comfortable. What’s more important is the growth path, brand value, people / culture in the new firm.
That doesn’t really seem worth it.. Unless you love the company or something. Moves up in industry are far less defined since there’s no real up or out. Should aim for 20-30% minimum in increases too, probably more, especially in this market
If the work you will be doing is more aligned with what you want to do or will help you get there it is always worth the move

Second BCG1’s statement, I jumped from ACN to FAANG for a 20% increase in TC - not the best exit compared to others on here.
But I had to weigh the brand name and type of work I’d be doing and it was a no-brainer to make the jump - I’m hoping a year or two at FAANG sets me up for the big payday

Agreed. It wasn’t my dream exit role (Product Manager) and I definitely didn’t want to do Corp Strat or Biz Dev so I took a role on the product team
I made my exit at 2.5 YOE. As of the time I got the offer, it was actually a 64% bump in pay then ACN had to go and do market adjustments which actually gave me second thoughts about leaving lol

I made the move to industry for about a 10% raise in base. It ended up being worth it for a few reasons. First I was already paid well (maybe overpaid), second it opened up a new area of learning, third the people and wlb were great, and finally it gave me great skills that I leveraged into an even better job.
