I’ve been in the consulting business twenty years now and have been through rough patches, market recessions and also got laid off twice. No matter what happens, you are not your job and your happiness shouldn’t be driven by external factors. Think back to the times in your life where you faced hardship and how you survived each time and grew from it. It is only through hard times do we really get to know what we are made of. Believe in yourself and everything will happen at the right time. Trust me, if I was able to grow in my career in spite of all my failures, any one can too. Nanakorobi yaoki. Thank you P1, you gave me some hope.

What’s ABIN? 🤔

I was in the lowest band of ratings in my first year and was this close to being let go (CTLd). I’ve been here 6 years now. It’s ok to lie on the floor crying. It’s critical to get up and do the best you can afterwards.

Following. I have been told that there are MDPs that we’re rolled off an early case in their career - not all is lost!

Think about how much money you’re getting paid to do nothing. 🤑 That always used to make me feel better.

This happens, some times it’s not a fit. I would begin networking for another role though. And talk to your career counselor to ensure there wont be any implications on your performance review.

There isn’t, performance was good. It was apparently the perception of not being a team player, which was far from the truth. A series of unfortunate situations..

Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?

Currently live in the DMV and don’t anticipate going back to work or on client site through the end of the year. My lease is up next month and my parents live in upstate NY. I have a standing offer with Accenture (AFS). Due to coronavirus, the recruiter told me they are pausing staffing of external people like myself while they take care of internal people on the bench. My recruiter said he would touch base monthly during covid, but usually I’m the one to reach out to him. We haven’t spoken since mid March, so should I reach out? I totally understand if they’re still in the same position as before and nothing changed since mid March in terms of hiring.
