Very nervous about an upcoming interview at a large tech company this week. I'm coming from another in-house role. Any tips or tricks?

Just went through this and accepted an offer. Just be personable and conversational. Do not bash your current employer. Good luck!

Hi.. today I got a call from a company in my city for a nodeJS back-end position.
They gave an assignment as below:

Suppose u r building a movie booking application, how will u handle it when 10,000 people try to book a same seat?
What r the performance scenarios u will consider ?
(No code is required, we r expecting a design document)

I'm not able to figure out what to answer for this. I only know how to create APIs. Can anybody help me out? Also what is the topic of this type of questions?

Hi guys, Its been almost 2 months since my interview happened. I got an email asking me to upload the docs just 2 days after the interview date. The documents are uploaded and also verified on the ibegin portal on 22nd Feb. The HR called later on 11th March for the basic discussion on the salary and since then it shows "evaluation in process", but nothing after that. The HR as usual didnt pick my call.

I have a video interview this afternoon for a role I applied to even though I didn’t think I was quite qualified for yet. I applied because it does align with everything I know besides bookkeeping. I figure they must be interested to request a video interview. Any tips on how I should go about selling myself and making myself stand out even though I am not experienced in the bookkeeping part of this job?

Hello everyone,

I currently work at a company that I really enjoy but can no longer afford to live on the salary. I have worked in the position for almost a year. Should I ask for a raise and explain that I can’t continue to work there due to the salary or just move on and try to find another role? (I have a graduate degree and make $65,000 as a data analyst using SQL)

So I’m currently entering the 4th and final round of an interview process for a sales role.. The final round entails a sales pitch presentation where I present either a topic or product that I can confidently convey a persuasive message about.

The actual topic isn’t what’s important as it’s more about then actual skills show cased.. I’m currently struggling to decide on an easy topic that would suit well - between the topic and then any other words of advise I can use some tips for this !!

Hi - hoping to get some insight/advice. I’ve been in house at a large private company for a year in a general corporate role (governance, M&A, etc.). I work with the global teams (so it’s a 24 hour job) and it’s relentless—non-legal teams constantly dump work they don’t want to deal with on my 2 person team, but then disappear if there’s something in their remit that I need help with. There’s also just not enough hours in the day to get my work done. Is it like that everywhere?

like

Applying for some in-house M&A jobs, and a big focus is being able to run deals. I of course feel very comfortable running deals from the corporate side and managing multiple teams, but have obviously always had an army of specialists in biglaw. How does this work in house? I’m primarily thinking from a tax perspective — I likely wouldn’t be able to structure a deal (and don’t think many of my peers could either) since we always rely on a tax team, but not sure if that is an expectation.

3rd year in Big Law. In the final round of an interview where the total comp is still well over 200k. My firm doesn’t pay market now so it’s not a huge cut. Hi all! I’m a recent transplant to the USA, foreign qualified in New Zealand. Worked on global issues with counterparts across the world. Have experience in startups, international contracting, litigation and foreign policy. Finding it hard for someone to take my experience seriously. Ideally would like to work in-house as I have experience. I’ve interviewed with a few tech companies with global offices but nothing has progressed. Am now reluctantly sitting the bar. Any advice?

How did you guys come to terms with the in-house pay cut? Biglaw is the worst and I’m ready to leave (surprised I haven’t rage quit already after 7 years) but I’m getting cold feet about the 6 figure pay cut. Have an offer at a super cool company with seemingly awesome people, culture + equity upside (PE sponsor wants to exit in 3-4 years) and feel so energized by the role but my golden handcuffs!! Someone give me your sage advice!

I’m considering an offer and have questions: 1) how do raises work within salary bands? if I’m already at the top of the band, does that mean I get nothing until I move up? 2) what questions do I want to ask about equity (public company)? 3) is it possible to negotiate health insurance starting early? Worried I’m going to be told to leave on the spot once I give notice and will lose benefits too quickly.

How long can you take to accept an offer? I received a forma offer today and have one more interview with another company for another position that I’m considering. I expect that the other company will let me know if they plan to make an offer by the end of the week. I am seriously considering both and want to give each a chance. Is a week acceptable to accept an offer?

Looking for hope/motivation: Is it possible to move in house to a private equity firm with a non-traditional background? I know anything is possible but not coming from big law and the non-traditional background make me question it.
