Very new to investing. Currently have a large bulk of my money in a money market but want to put at least 50% of it somewhere else for longer better investments. How do I go about doing this?

S&P 500 index or ETF, best way to learn is to bet on the market. As you research and learn about companies you can reapportion. TBH the majority of investors are better off just leaving it in S&P tho, myself included

Read: “The Little Book of Common Sense Investing: The Only Way to Guarantee Your Fair Share of Stock Market Returns”, by John C. Bogle, the founder of Vanguard Group. I think there are sites on the internet where you can download a PDF of it. It’s an easy and quick read.

Warren Buffett said this about John Bogle: “Jack did more for American investors as a whole than any individual I've known"

I have to tell my parents that I got engaged this weekend. They haven’t been taking the coming out well over the last year (i.e have isolated themselves from their community, screaming and crying when I’m on the phone with mom, dad hasn’t spoken to me since July). I’m incredibly nervous about this conversation. Going to have it in about two hours. Any words of advice?

Assalamualaikum everyone I am in a family predicament and would like to hear your thoughts:

My father is emotionally abusive to my mother. Always has been since I was a child. My mother vets to me about how he treats her. I see it all the time. With the smallest of things he will yell at her, belittle her and demean her often for no reason. My mother has severe anxiety and depression because of it. Ever since I've been an adult I've been telling him to stop this treatment...(cont in comments)

I started a new job a month ago and I hate it! I hate the culture (there is no culture) the way that they communicate (no meetings everything in slack) and the way that they work (alone) It feels pretty much like I am freelancing and I thrive in collaborative environment. I have never felt this isolated in my whole life. It sucks.
Has anyone been in that situation? If I look for another job, should I remove that experience from my linked in? Or should I talk about that if I get interviews?

24, a decent amount of savings in the bank. I’m sort of interested in buying a property in the next few years.
Is this a good or bad idea? I live in Ny area, so obviously the city would probably be too expensive to buy any property. Would probably have to buy further out in westchester, Long Island, maybe connecticut or NJ. If I buy, should I be living there? Or should I rent it out until I’m ready to live there (assuming it’s a bit further from the city). Very early stages of just thinking

Bought our house last year for 300k, put 15% down, and outstanding mortgage balance is about 245k. Based on the market, I think the home value has gone up to around 330k. Am I able to get my PMI payment removed because my equity is likely over 20%? Would it be worth getting an appraisal done to demonstrate that I know have ~85k in equity, which is about 25% of home value? Sorry if this is a dumb question, it’s our first house!
