Good morning, I am a recent under-grad and working as a BI Developer. I’m looking at transitioning to a project or product manager role and I have 1+ YOE. I know the job market is not that great as of now but I’ve applied to countless PM roles and have had no success. I want to know from other PM’s if it’s necessary for me to get a PMP certification before I can get a job or it’s not that of a requirement?
Had interview rounds with client, director, partner however no round with HR but today got a mail for documents. Can i expect HR round now?
I’ve been getting a lot of anxiety recently related to work (60+ hour weeks, tight deadlines, harsh account/PMs in the past are triggering it now) and I feel like I start to feel resentment and end I up leaving to work at another agency where the same thing happens down the road. Does anyone else experience this cycle of work-related trauma? How are you managing it?

Two phones or one? What do you have and why?
Anyone ever been disciplined for being too busy? I’m 4th year lit who committed to too many cases without appreciating the time commitment required. My firm has no formal mentorship/structure, so no one’s regulating associate workloads. No juniors to pass work to as they are also slammed. I’m missing internal deadlines, but my work is always good and I’ve never prejudiced a client, etc. I’m worried about getting cut off by my favorite shareholder, but will he understand if I just explain?
This bowl is so wholesome. I enjoy the stark contrast between people who are in big law because it's what they want and those who are because they feel like they are forced to be.

England & Wales: How bad does it look to leave your firm on qualification? It seems to be more common nowadays, but feels like there’s still a stigma. (I’m a trainee solicitor qualifying in Sept. Work at a London city firm).
If you don’t have 8 hours of billable time a day, do you leave as is or do you fill in the gap with non-billable work? While I am in the office, I don’t always get the billable amount since I don’t have enough work. Seems like a waste of time to enter non-billable time just to fill in the gap but I also don’t want them to think I am not there and slacking off.

Had a (Zoom) training today with some fellow junior associates where talked primarily about diversity in our firm. 1 associate (a man) characterized women leaving the firm after starting families as their "independent choices", which I understood to imply that there is nothing wrong with the profession and women leave because they want to focus on families. The group spoke up and rebutted this but it got me thinking -

Working with multiple recruiters—yay or nay?
I realized that a senior associate has been bcc’ing the partner when they send an “admonishing email” about things I missed. This seems… kind of backstabbing but please let me know otherwise.
Question for all my litigation senior associates/special counsel: are you getting the full court press on business development? Have you developed any new business and how did you go about getting that opportunity? I just feel like I am repeatedly running into a brick wall even though I am publishing articles, networking, and meeting with potential clients. I want to take the next step towards being a director but I feel like the requirement is daunting for a litigator.
Does anyone have any insight to the billable hours and culture at Quarles & Brady in the Minneapolis office?
How do I deal with two senior/very important partners who have completely different ideas for strategy regarding a case? They keep telling me to do various tasks with different instructions, there’s no one “point” person for the client, and I feel like we look all over the place with our approach to different docs depending on who reviews and not like we have a united front. But maybe I’m not paid enough to be caring about this?
Corporate juniors. What are you guys annualizing? I’ll probably finish somewhere between 1300-1400 billable hours.
I have had a lot of success in my position at my firm. Clients have been extremely open with their appreciation and desire to work with me. I have far exceeded my billing requirements by over 75-100 hours each month. What is the best way to seek a midstream raise? Also, what is a reasonable raise. Is asking for 15-20k ridiculous when I think I have earned it?

The summer (and August in particular) can really slow down. I'd probably chill for now and then start being really proactive on finding work after labor day.
Are you looking to make partner? If so then I would try and be aggressive. It’s probably just a matter of things being slower over the summer, but you should try and be seen so that whatever work there is comes to you. As for whether you’d get pushed out - if a firm is hiring someone very senior then they probably wanted them for the long term - either as counsel or partner. Seniors are also (slightly!) less replaceable compared to juniors so I’d be surprised if you let go just because of a couple of slow months.
I’d like to make partner eventually, but I have no problem being associate or counsel for several years. I just need to not get pushed out in under 3 years, but I also don’t wanna grind lol. Trying to find that balance while blocking out stress (hence posting on fishbowl)…
Classic stress when you have work and stress when you don’t. I joined a big firm in April, super slow. Hard to know how much is ramp up, summer slowdown or market slowdown. Just be proactive, or go chill by the lake while you can still chalk up low hours to your ramp up time
56 hours in July, this month so far will be the same or less
