I have social media breaks built into my day- need some time to disconnect and restart/refresh my brain. Usually while I’m walking to get lunch or more coffee. Plus my commute.

Job base salary presented by HR during screening interview was $130-$145k. I have 3-5 years more experience and more education compared to the posting requirements (BA required, I have a MS). I love the position and what it entails, but was hoping to reach $150-$160 base salary. If offered the position, is this a reasonable ask? This is for big pharma, data analytics in New England.

Hello, everyone!

I have an interview for a relatively new law firm early next week. However, upon doing more research about them, I noticed that their website has only a black-and-white website about only what the law firm is about.

My questions are:

Is this a red flag?
How do you guys prepare for interviews specifically with law firms that have little to some information on their website and Glassdoor?

Thank you so much in advance!

How does hourly contract lawyering work? I’m on a contract through a recruiting firm before the company hires me directly. My pay is hourly but I get time and a half for over time. I’m currently a policy atty for a think tank and did prosecution before that so I’ve never “billed.” I regularly check and respond to emails on my phone in the evening after work. Do I include that on my timesheet??

California attorneys — I am having difficulty finding authority concerning the use of a rejected (partial) settlement offer to claim that a party failed to mitigate their damages. I.E. plaintiff could have mitigated if they accepted the (partial) settlement offer. Defendant offered to settle one claim (without affecting the others). Plaintiff rejected. The value of damages has increased over time and now defendant claims that plaintiff failed to mitigate because they did not accept the offer. TY

Bought a car today. Finance Manager tried to get me to sign the Bill of Sale without reviewing the carfax report, despite it being mandated by the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act. Do I raise the concern with OMVIC (vehicle sales regulator) or am I just pissed off and should forget it?
