If you put in notice before anniversary and they show you the door, that would be a potentially complicated situation.
Can you give notice after anniversary and then use pto to carry you on your old job while you start your new one?
Not ideal, but you also wouldn’t be the first person to have done it. People are human and might understand. People will likely remember more how you left, like if you wrapped up everything nicely in your last week vs if you stopped showing up and left your team with a dumpster fire
They already pushed back my start date a few times, so I’m not sure I can continue pushing on that front. What if I give my manager a soft notice 2-3 weeks out of my actual last day telling him “I’m thinking about leaving?” Then document and make sure everything is smoothly transitioned during that time. This would be similar to employees letting their team know of their intentions to apply to Business School many months out, no?
“I understand that if I voluntarily terminate my employment within 12 months, I must repay back my bonus in full”
I’m coming up a on year at my company and looking to leave right around my anniversary. I had initially planned to put in my 2 weeks 1 week before my anniversary date (ex: notice on 7/1, anniversary on 7/8, last day on 7/15), thus officially leaving a week after my anniversary. However, after re-reading this part of my offer letter regarding my signon bonus, I’m not sure if “voluntarily terminating my employment” is describing my official last day or if it also includes my “intent” to leave, the 2 weeks notice. Due to family reasons, it’d be really inconvenient for me to push back my official end date and I’d rather not do that if possible. I could also just put in a 3 days notice right after my anniversary cuts over, but that wouldn’t be ideal either for obvious reasons.Does anyone know the exact meaning of this?
Explain this to the new company, either they will pay your sign on bonus debt, or will allow you to push back your start date. I’ve had the former happen before
