Conspiracy theory: these articles are all a ploy to achieve the ‘inevitable’ of mass deaths and such. The rush to normalcy will kill so many people, however it seems that mortality is something a lot of people just want to happen and get over.

A neuroradiologist is not a specialist in epidemiology. Next.

The neuroradiologist may be vying for Dr Gupta equivalent role on Fox News. He will face a lot of competition - Dr Oz, Dr N Phil, Dr. Drew etc.

The flu is a similar respiratory virus with a similar fatality rate, it’s quite comparable - just not perfectly so.

The point about the "at-risk" population only being older people is a bit misleading. Yes, the death count skews towards older populations, but we don't know enough about long lasting impacts from the virus. Some reports talk about continuing lung or heart damage, which may not kill not but surely will lead to complications in the future.

BCG1, fair enough. I definitely understand the injustices that have led to the poverty cycle and feel for those people. And I know everyone has their struggles, and for some it’s weight/nutrition/exercise. Sometimes I question whether treating people as victims makes the situation better or worse. Probably depends on the individual. But I do definitely see your point.

He cites the Santa Clara study that estimates a <.1% death rate. Since more that percentage le the ENITRE NYC population has died anyone basing anything on that study has to be treated as stupid at best.

AD1, very much appreciated. I’m fortunate to be well prepared to ride this out for couple years no problem, but many friends are not so lucky. If there’s one certainty, everyone is hurting in this deal. If there are two, it’s that we’ll get through this. Thanks again

So who are the vulnerable people, my wife has chronic asthma, is she?

like

Oh boy

I’m seeing a distinct lack of sources here for the more specific claims. For example, what backs up the claim that “80% of brain surgeries have been skipped”? Who made the determination those surgeries actually were needed?

A) fixed costs are a thing. You build space for elective procedures and employ people to support that and then don’t use them, you lose money. B) capitalism is fine. Medicare rates drive most non elective procedures and companies have to make the difference up somewhere. Those Medicare rates are artificially low. Not being able to run the entire business because of government intervention is the opposite of capitalism.

100% in agreement with this article.

Talks about how we’re missing out on herd immunity, points to vaccinations as proof. Yes, vaccines are the only safe and proven way to get herd immunity.

He also raises a point a lot of people do that it’s only vulnerable people at risk of death so targeted isolation should be done. Except most of the deaths are from aged care centres, does he think we haven’t been trying to protect these vulnerable people up until now?

I’m realizing I have a lot of fear—mostly related to health stuff and death. Feel like people are getting sick left right and center (not talking about covid). I’ve never had anyone close to me become very sick or die—don’t know what I would do if this happened. I’m also overly concerned about my health and seem to be at the doctor every month to get something checked. Can anyone relate or provide suggestions on how to overcome something like this?
