That’s exactly the kind of thing we should celebrate - means creativity has had long term business results. In this world of short-termism and constant churn that looks like a bit of optimism to me.
A 60-year relationship is amazing. Yes, this should be celebrated
DDBers like freelancer Ted Royer. Tight
CD3: I know female creatives that were victims of TR. Do you think Time’s Up would have pushed Wendy out if he had drug problems? Plus drug problems aren’t a reason to let someone go, they’re responsible to get him help.
No one is arguing that creativity doesn’t create demand, ie “human want is the seed of progress” etc. That’s not my point. She’s celebrating Omnicom retaining the European portion of the business after being cut from the North America review and getting booted from Time’s Up after hiring Ted Royer. Doesn’t seem like a win to me. 😂
👆Wendy Clark is a sociopath. I can’t believe she got away with hiring Ted Roger. She’d hire Hitler himself if he could write good copy.
@SD1 they haven’t had it in NA in a decade. But, they have had some part of the global business all that time. So, her description is accurate, even if a bit misleading
She knows DDB/Omnicom was pitching the NA business that WPP won, right? If so, she knows they actually lost more than they retained, but...
Whatever. homegirl is the master of spin. Give her all the money
Area23 Wendy? Is that you? Haha
Except Deutsch so its not really 60 years...
@CD3 you’re right: the default assumption is the worst when a profit-making enterprise fires a money maker with no stated reason. The way to get around this is to simply say why he was let go. If it was because he smoked pot once in the office then the entire industry would be on his side and we’d be cheering for him to have gotten that gig.
But ... do you really think that’s what happened? Because I don’t. I’m happy to be proven wrong, though.
I’ve seen ECD’s and GCD’s dealing with drug problems. Agencies always put up with it. In fact, one of them was sent to rehab all expenses paid for by the agency. So I don’t think Droga5 was going to lose one of its valuable creatives over something like that. Unless of course, Mr. Royer was shooting heroine at a partners meeting, which I don’t think was the case. It must have definitely been something else. People at the level of WC have access to a lot of information. She knew Ted would be a controversial hire. And even more controversial if hired under murky circumstances. Anyway, come on fishies, it’s all fair game. After all VW lied about CO2 emissions a few years ago. No one seems to remember that?
But you’re all making assumptions TR did something really bad. Nothing was ever made public. What if it was just drugs. Is wendy a bad person for hiring him for freelance then? As a society we’re all so quick to jump on people and bring them down without knowing facts.
Honest question: Is Wendy Clark good or is she the queen of PR?
Queen of PR and opportunistic. For people who defend her choice to use Royer and then lie about it, you must have the same values as her=money above everything and everyone. She said the Time’s Up movement is her moral compass...it’s because she’s missing one. Moral compass comes from within, not from others.
Wait, ddb isn’t wpp. Wendy, you liar
Both
Anyone that is questioning if Wendy is good is not paying a lot of attention to what she has actually accomplished. And aside from being incredibly impressive, I learned from meeting her a couple of times that she is a humble and kind hearted person
@OP- sent you a DM. Would love to chat. Thank you.
