BDR role is all about consistent activity and having a positive attitude.
- build relationships with your AE. This will help get your leads qualified, while learning about the entire sales process
- replicate what the best BDRs are doing. It’s not the type of job where you need to “reinvent the wheel”.
Salary varies from company to company! 50k base, 70k ote is standard in tech these days
Don’t know much about Okta, but have heard good things! Good luck! Tech sales is awesome and I think you’ll be happy with the switch. Thanks for your time as a nurse!!
Thank you for sharing! My offer is around the same range there, uncapped commission and accelerators!
Wow that's an awesome pivot. Nice! How did you make the switch?
I would have raised the bar higher and applied to the Big 4 as a healthcare consultant with tech focus vs an individual contributor role. From your response you’re aiming too low, unless you’re ready to get the hell out of healthcare due to burnout
Ahh. This is great!!!!!
I am also a nurse by background and now at my year 8 doing tech sales. Nursing and sales are share the same principal. Helping others/ organisation with their pain and care is the key for me. I would say knowing the methodology and sales framework going to help you a lot. I learn about Meddic.
Ah nice!! Thank you for sharing
I know nothing about Okta. But thank you for sticking it out as long as you did. Kick ass in the new role!!!!
Thank you for the kudos!
Do it and learn, great shop.
Read nursing, health on the side because it is always useful to jump back into healthcare. Humble two cents
I plan on keeping my license active just in case! The beauty of my nursing degree is healthcare is always hiring and I can always jump back into it later on:)
Try to have the best relationship possible with your AE's, it will be tough sometimes so don't worry and keep going.
Okta is growing! Congrats on the role and pivot. Comp should be around 50-65k + 20k ote min!
Thank you! Do you currently work at Okta?
I hear really good things about them. They have a reputation for providing wlb and having good culture. I think they offer great benefits as well.
