Best AA meetings in NYC??
You just have a hard stop, you don't need to explain to anyone. You may need to talk with employee assistance at some point. Getting sober trumps everthing.
Don’t share your alcoholism with anyone until you meet with a therapist, AA sponsor, or someone else who can help you sort out your emotions.
It doesn’t matter what you tell your team.
You can do this. Your freedom is waiting for you.
I agree that you just need to tell the team that you have a hard stop for a personal commitment.
Sending lots and lots of ❤️
Your soberity needs to come first. Everything else is secondary. This includes work and family for the time being until things calm down.
I don’t have much advice but just wanted to say I’m wishing you all the best.

Consulting is a hard enough job as it is; throw in addiction and it becomes damn near unbearable if you don’t have a good program of recovery. I had to take a Leave of Absence to sort out my stuff. I’d connect with an Ombudsman or your HR person to discuss options.
I’ve had projects and teams where a personal “hard stop” was acceptable, and other situations where it wouldn’t fly. Only you know your current team dynamic. The important thing is that sobriety comes first. I know for me, if I kept drinking I’d eventually either blow up and quit, or let the team down at some point.
I'm also in an IOP - 10hrs per week and one month sober today. It's 100% ok to put your needs first. Tell work you have a firm commitment at those times, that's all they need to know.
I did IOP and now 16 months sober. You can do this. I also never would stop a meeting until I decided my sobriety was more important. Never told anyone on my team - still haven’t.
In AA, there are a few important things 1) is that you must put your sobriety before all things and 2) that anonymity is the spiritual foundation of the program. What does that mean for you? One is you must prioritize you, your team will understand and want you to be well (you can just say you have various personal appointments upcoming that you will be attending). Two is that you don’t need to tell them what you’re doing as that’s between you and the program. Best of luck and I hope you keep going because it really works if you commit.
You certainly don’t have to explain and put YOU first. I noticed that in our line of work we always put the client first and take care of ourselves last. Focus on you, set some boundaries, and don’t apologize or feel bad about it. Make this the year of YOU! I hope the outpatient services work, but if it doesn’t, take a week of pto and do inpatient treatment.
