Want to accept an offer with a start date in January 2022 (which is fine with me). It makes sense to give notice in mid December, but it will feel kind of weird to have this knowledge for two months while pretending everything's normal to my current firm?

Or….give notice now and enjoy 2.5 months of pure bliss, and ignore the fact you may fail to pay rent and live on the streets 🤙

I think it depends on the firm/needs. My prior firm asked (guilted) me to stay as long as I could after giving notice and they weren’t happy that the most I could give them was 3 weeks

I did it two years ago. It felt pretty miserable, but it was the right way to handle it. Lawyers need to be able to do the hard things and keep their mouths shut. You’ve got this.

If you can swing it $$ wise give notice now. You will not have that much free time off again until your next job move.

Take a vacation before you give notice!

I just had this happen to me. Had two very interested firms that had extremely slow hiring processes, so, by May, I knew that offers were coming. Didn’t get a formal office until August, however. Even after the August offer, I waited a month to give notice in order to collect mid-year bonuses. As someone with a very moralizing conscience, it was very guilt inducing and difficult for me. But I came to see what everyone else relayed to me when I wrestled with my feelings at the time; namely, that at the end of the day, it’s a business relationship. Each person acts in their best interest. Good employers and supervisors understand this. In my case, my former employer’s reaction was phenomenal. They told me that I was looking out for myself and my family, as I should. That made a really difficult process that much more bearable.

Did they offer you the start date or did you ask for it? I want a Jan 2022 start date but nervous to bring it up if it’s seen as a negative

Looking for a junior or mid-level AD. Remote work forever. Must be conceptual with great design chops. Small team. Great work/life balance. Nice people. And we produce a ton of work (mostly video so some production experience is a plus). DM me with books. Thanks!

Seeking advice. Has anyone made the move from a full time employee at one company to being a contractor(through staffing agency) for another? Very similar scope of work. The contract position is for a prior manager where we work extremely well together. Also I’m miserable in my FTE roll and my current company.

Just started in consulting 2 weeks ago don’t really know what’s going on , which way to turn or hoe to prepare myself. The people seek nice but haven’t step foot in the building to meet anyone in person due to covid so it’s hard to truly tell. Haven’t been on an engagement yet just lost

Currently working for a global tech company on a decent-ish salary where I've been two years. The work is ok. It can be interesting at times, and most of the time I'm left to my own devices to get on with my work. I randomly applied for a higher level director position with a competitor on a similar role (less client exposure, more internal work) and now been offered the role with a 33% pay increase, but now I'm not sure whether to accept for the upheaval etc. Any advice?
