On a new team, internal move. Have about 10 YOE but looks like this will be the first year I end nowhere near annual goal. A few things outside of my control as I'm coming into the territory and things falling through. Role is heavy on renewals/farming but also some hunting. Because the farming has been so bad as I settle into month 4, will have a huge climb. The number of reps/meetings to get there is not attainable. Do I grind it past year 1? I hate that I will come nowhere close to goal...

Anybody exit consulting and go into business for themselves? (Own firm, real estate, niche business?) If so, how did you go about getting capital to get started?

Senior engineer making 135k and I was offered a promotion to engineering manager after completing a development plan. Near the end of the plan and I expect compensation talks to start soon. Based on some research around Boston and my role in the company, I feel 165k plus 10-15% bonus is fair. Nonetheless, first time going through something like this and asking for thoughts and comments. I have interviews coming up at BD in Maryland and, coming from the hospital world, I have no clue what salary to ask for. The position is a scientist/quality role for microbiology research and development. For context, I have 4 years of experience in a hospital blood bank and am a certified Medical Laboratory Technologist. I was thinking in the 65-70k range, but the recruiter made it seem like that was easily attainable so I’m worried I’m asking too low. Would 75-80k be do-able?
