Python makes sense. Focus on csci fundamentals, not just memorizing syntax
Classes that teach computational thinking while learning the language is ideal. Working also to apply to my current problems via programming is added bonus to practice... but need the time.
I spoke with a comp sci friend recently about this! they also suggested python because it is about as easy and user friendly as a programming language can get. it lends itself well to data science, according to them. it also really helps the learner understand the logic behind programming

If you want to spend some time learning some fundamental CS concepts, check out the Harvardx CS50 class. It’s free and incredible. I picked up python working on projects and this class has been helping me understand stuff I’ve done at a deeper level

Related question to OP's original question: As we become novices in the new language over time, i.e. by the time we interview for our next job, how would this new skill come into view? Should we expect coding examples during the interview process for non-data scientists?
