I would personally include a cover letter also and use the email as brief intro / summary. As in a few sentences.

I'm going to be accepting an offer to a firm. I have a pre planned trip in May I am going to tell them about and ask if that will be an issue (could be cancelled if it's an issue). I am also traveling on Presidents' Day as my current firm has that off. That trip is paid for and not refundable. Kind of worried new firm might not have Presidents' Day off and worried that two trips will be a turnoff to them.

When I clerked, I dreamed of being an appellate attorney. Tried to break in at BigLaw, couldn’t get past all the Supreme Court clerks, still lucked into all of two arguments in ten years.

25 years after my clerkship, my own shop, and my team of attorneys has seven federal appellate briefs due in the next five weeks. Maybe eight if opposing counsel’s motion to expedite comes through.

So I’ll be working this weekend. Careful what you wish for? Except I absolutely love it.
