I would do A LOT of research before trying something "newer and better" on the market just based on one doctor. Been listening to a lot of horror story podcasts lately so am hyper vigilant lol
Were they specific to PIOL? I did quite a bit of googling on study’s, FDA warnings, etc. I had my heart set on LASIK because I know so many people who have had it and it worked out well. The doctor is considered one of the best in my city for this surgery. It’s just that when it comes to eyes, risk aversion is probably a good approach. Although my quality of life would improve if it wasn’t for contacts and glasses as I have really dry eyes.
Yea I heard about that. This is a different surgery where they implant a lens in your eye I don’t think dry eyes is as much of an issue.
Did they say why they recommended PIOL over LASIK? My SO was talked out of LASIK by the eye surgeon and opted instead for PRK, primarily because of her very active lifestyle. She hasn't regretted it at all.
I would say though that unless there's a compelling reason for your specific situation to choose one over the other, that your best off doing some research and understanding which surgery will have the most positive impact on your day-to-day.
I don’t know about this new thing but I got Lasiks about 3 years ago. The procedure was maybe 5 minutes long and I “recovered” for a day. No issues and no regrets. It’s so nice to not have to worry about contacts or glasses every day. I did a ton of research on what doctor to use before I went. Tech is key.
Yea I heard about FDA approval sometimes being a lot easier than it should be. Here is the study results I found.

Good question.
The doc said that one of my corneas was little too flat and thin. As LASIK and PRK both cause your cornea to be flattened to some degree this could me that I have a high chance of distortions (halos). PIOL was the alternative.
It’s just concerning to me that I don’t know anyone who has had this surgery.
