Wanted to join FDD but apparently hours are bad (even worse than audit?), and AAS hours are better but I’m more interested in FDD work.. I’m lost 😅

FDD is glorified audit

like

M1, yeah. I come off a bit snarky about FDD to make a point because I think a lot of seniors don’t realize what they’re getting into.

Ultimately it depends on your goals. There are people it can make sense for, but if you’re trying to do your time in public and then leave for a director level job in industry or do the MD/partner thing, you’re probably going to have a happier life in audit.

If you’re just trying to increase base pay for 1-2 years before jumping for a senior FP&A role, then yeah, it could make sense. That’s not really what I’m personally aiming for, though.

What’s interesting to you in FDD?

The analysis part is interesting, and generally get a better understanding of the FS, and how other factors (industry trends and other) come into play with the numbers.. being able to connect the dots to make informed decision about the deal.
I feel like I don’t learn this much at this stage in audit bc we’re just focused on examining numbers at a detailed level and making sure everything is correctly recorded/classified. I want to learn how to analyze and read the FS, the in and outs of it, how does it affect a business etc
