Wanted to understand what happens in FAANG companies if H-1b visa runs out and there is no I-140 in place to extend visa beyond 6 years. Do they transfer the employee to a non-US office E.g. Canada? Does anyone here been through this scenario?

I burst into tears Friday as I said goodbye to the best TA ever! She is now a kindergarten teacher in another district. Spouse was stuck outside US since H4 stamping stopped by EO. They came here on B2 and have been here some months now. Would you recommend apply for H4 and change status while they are here? Downside is it takes 10+ months and spouse can't leave the country in that time.
Alternative is wait till Jan and see if EO expires and H4 can be stamped back home in a matter if a week.
