Is a cover letter necessary?
Rollin' into the weekend...

From outside counsel perspective, due to the voluminous litigation, Walmart has extremely specific protocol, policies, etc. when working with outside counsel. You could mention if you have a high-volume client & talk about how you would adapt your practice to maintain those cases in house. Walmart is cheap, so how would you make your cases end early/minimize costs? I would ask them if you would have a paralegal to assist you and how many other people that paralegal assists. This may be obvious but look up the recent Walmart cases in the news/ on the dockets.
Just curious as to why Walmart? HQ location? Retail? I’m in-house at a specialty retailer and when I hire attorneys/paras, I love a good, personalized cover letter explaining why someone wants to work for my company in the role, but I know not all hiring managers look for that.
Location - I'm in the area of HQ
Your post doesn't indicate one way or the other, but ... do you currently do defense work for Walmart? An insurance-defense firm I worked for 10+ years ago did trucking-liability defense for Walmart, so we interacted with in-house counsel. I would think that kind of 'insider knowledge' would be particularly helpful.
Ha! I was just looking at some of their positions. I have nothing to add but I have a buddy whose a sr director in their is security group who I need to ask if they do remote positions for legal.
