Yea, because it is great business practice to let people have access to client data on their personal computers. Totally unprofessional, in my opinion.

A lot of larger banks seem to use it as an incentive to get people to come into the office where each person has their own desktop. If you want to work remote, you can use the firm’s vpn on a personal laptop

If they’ve figured out a BYOD policy, it can still be secure. PwC lets people access the network via. dI from a personal device. Their policy sucks but it can still be secure.

It’s normal for a big company to try to cut cost. Know your value and go elsewhere. If they ate that cheap up front it will be miserable down the road

likesmart

Not normal for a company of that size. I agree with what was posted above. This is likely a behavioral nudge to get people back into the office. Also, the new zero trust framework being rolled out by cybersecurity teams might actually benefit from the use of unique devices for tracking access.

Oh man if that’s how citi employees work, I really need to take my money out of it and deposit it somewhere else. Sounds like a practice to invite cyberattacks. Never heard of any employer not providing laptops in my ten years of career.

It's common in a lot if industries, but idiotic. My wife's nonprofit bought new desktops a few years ago and wasn't in a position to buy people laptops so they implemented BYOD. We bought her a cheap laptop for Microsoft office and zoom.

I work at a foreign bank now, and it’s the same. They have a byob policy although you can request for a laptop if needed.

Coming from Chase and then public, I understand where you're coming from. When it comes to big banks, they're always trying to cut costs. Prior to Covid and working from home, all employees had their own thin client desktop in office and would remote into the network on VDI. The same would be true if they provided employees who WFH their own laptop which would really be some sort of chromebook. Either way, you would log into their VDI which would prevent people transferring files onto their personal computer/laptop. It was actually weird for me to come to public because I thought I would get my own desktop in the office and the laptop was just for WFH purposes. Lol

I'd rather a BYOD tbh. The laptops ey gives were barely mid tier 3 years ago when they were new, I have files I can barely process. I'd rather be able to just have my own pc and run with it

Does citi ban the candidate from applying again to citi, if he has accepted the offer letter but did not join citi

Good snswer
