Take the $. Who cares what they call you? The best advice I've ever received was don't chase titles. Call me an intern if you pay me my number.
A PE analyst is pulling more than a big4 SMs. Get the new job and get paid.
Appreciate the insight!
If they equate consultant to analyst, then it’s fine. It’s just a title. What matters more is the responsibilities associated with the role, and the compensation.
That’s ok then. I’ve seen people at certain organizations with title of SC but they’ve got 20 years of experience. Sounds like a great jump for you.
As someone who works in HR consulting and has been at 4 different firms, my titles went from analyst, senior analyst, associate, senior analyst, associate, senior associate, consultant, associate, lead associate to senior manager.
It many not have been that, but it was a lot of “two steps forward and one step back” in terms of titling. No one cares about titling as long as you can show a career progression. And if there is a dip for a year for a lateral move, as long as you progress, no one cares.
Good luck!

Those titles sound the same to me
I took the money and make much much more than than my higher titled former colleagues. Titles are meaningless, especially ambiguous ones like Analyst

Take the money. Titles are so subjective to each firm that they really don’t matter.
Yeah no one cares about your title
Do you plan on jumping
No, honestly the people and company are so awesome, if I take this, I can see myself staying for at least 5 years. It's got a lot of interesting growth potential but also the wlb is very nice.
This early in your career it won't matter
Negotiate the title. That’s what I did
Well, I did both, and I also worked for and currently work for a large multinational company starting next week as a senior manager. It’s up to the discretion of your hiring team. If the people you’re working with say no then that make sense, but it’s definitely possible.
