Hello,
Last Wednesday I was able to get a Deloitte job referral, I applied the next day. Yesterday I signed in to my account and it shows that I applied for the job but when I click on the link it show me an error page. I searched for the job on the website itself and it disappeared. There were like multiple positions but different locations, now they’re all expired. What does this mean? Did they choose a candidate already? It’s weird it never happened to me before
Thank you in advance 🙏🏻

McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company been working here one year and received pretty positive feedback. Given the expectation for people of my tenure to transition to EM in a year or so, I can’t see myself staying due to the WLB as an EM. I’m 35 and have 2 young kids. Can it even be realistically done? Would love to stay but I don’t see a balance which would keep my family happy. What options do I have from there?

Health over work all the time. This level of detail is probably more than enough. I need surgery and then some time to recover. Maybe reach out to your people consultant or HR and see what the process is.

Are you kidding me? You get your surgery ASAP. Put in for short term disability leave pronto / submit everything as soon as you can. They’ll understand. Your worries are no longer your project and all they need to know is you have an immediate need for surgery
You talk to HR first and get the paperwork for short term disability. Then you tell your team you have an urgent medical procedure that you can’t delay.
Think of it this way, if you got hit by a bus the project would find someone to backfill you and would get done. You are not voluntary sinking the project with a necessary surgery. You have nothing to be guilty about.

Exactly that. You need the operation. Take the time and focus on your health. Work will always be there.
I worked immediately after a critical surgery and did not take the time for myself. I still suffer from chronic pain and professionally got jack for it.
I know it feels like the end of the world, but it’s not. Provide advance notice and prioritize yourself.
We want you for the long run, go get healthy we will be here for you

I’d send them a picture from the hospital and say “sorry can’t make it to work today, and the next 9 weeks”.
Jk! Please take care of yourself. Figure out if you need to go on Medical Leave, talk to HR. Then inform your team. Health comes first

If you got hit by a bus tomorrow they would find someone in a heartbeat to take over. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself.
The world should still be here when you're done.
On another note, I once had a director question if I stored all the project files correctly. She said “if you get hit by a bus tomorrow, I need to know where to find things.” 🤣 She later got laid off during covid.
Get the surgery scheduled and use the time to get mentally prepared for it. Talk to your boss/HR and notify them. Don’t ask. Notify. If anytime left, do some KT sessions as per your convenience if that will help you relax. Everyone has their own dedication to work duties. So you do you!

If a team member had to leave suddenly for surgery and then was out for 2+ months I’d be thinking damm I hope they’re ok! I wouldn’t be thinking hey what a jerk that let down our project.
Hi OP - I went through this recently. It is actually very separate from your practice as it’s managed through the leave team. Call EY HELP to talk to the leave team. They will then notify your practice lead and they will not disclose any of the details, just your last date prior to surgery and your return date. When I took mine I didn’t go into much detail, but had curtesy calls with my practice leads and Partner. Some asked no questions, others poked a little, but ultimately I didn’t disclose much. Most of the poking was coming more from an area of concern vs. being nosy FYI. You then work with the EY leave team and EY’s insurance provider to get your coverage approved via your doctor.
Just tell them you need surgery and recovery time. No one will pry, except out of concern. Take care of you first. Don’t be anxious. This is the right thing to do, and crisis hits everyone sooner or later. The firm will understand, they will be worried, but they will be supportive. Best of luck! Hope you get / feel better soon. Sending lots of positivity your way! Big hugs!
Hey OP, I’m thinking about you. Getting surgery soon too but only in hospital overnight and shorter recovery time. Just let work know ahead of time and come up with a coverage plan. You got this!

Good luck with the surgery, and focus on your health. There will be some very simple process steps to take short term disability leave. Your company may require you use 5 days of PTO first, the balance will be STD pay.
I called from the hospital once and the std set-up took less effort than the admissions process in the hospital. You will update the leave person along the way, no one expects you to know when you'll be back initially.
Is all good, and best wishes.
Health always comes first.
Get the surgery and take all the time you need. Work can’t fire you for being sick that’s why we have fmla
Your health should not require second thoughts - keep the medical report and treatment plan handy but speak to your manager asap. Only fair you give them a heads up so they can plan for a replacement. Offer to transition knowledge before you start treatment, if feasible - there is no comparison between delaying a health condition vs a bloody project.
