Was told that some boutique firms offer more local projects. Not opposed to travel, just need a little more time at home. Any recommendations for those that pay reasonably well and have a good rep?

I edited my above post to include more info.

I’m in Chicago. My background is most recently in financial services working with digital transformation projects - strategy or delivery. Just promoted to Manager. Not deeply technical. I have a broad understanding of industry trends and more of an understanding in how a business can use technology to achieve business objectives. Top skills: change management, project management (mainly Agile - SM, PO), business process improvement. Looking to where I can initially align my skills. Researching companies at this time.

Coñsider Slalom. DM me (and be patient, would be my first DM) if you think it's up your alley.

Did you find a good fit? I have a similar background and sounds like I’m looking for the same thing

I see tons of posts on here about how travel will not got back to normal and I completely disagree. Leading workshops in person with a white board, easily answering questions from different departments with little coordination (since your onsite don’t always need to plan a meeting), observing workflows in person to understand current state can not and is not getting replaced by zoom. I would say the effective rate is at 80/90% but the cost of travel is well worth the extra 10-20%.

When asking the hotel how we are supposed to get there for dinner, they told us that we would have to walk as they are understaffed....

At the beginning of the month I accepted a job offer that was ok but not ideal (salary was on target and a good title, sign on bonus but not really the work I want to do or the direction in which I want to take my career). Pretty much the day after I accepted another company with a bigger brand name approached me. I told them I was talking/negotiating but haven't accepted yet. I want to tell them the truth but want to keep the door open. What do I say/do? I fear I won't like my new job...
